RESOLUTION NO. INITIATING PROCEEDINGS FOR
THE ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF SANTA
ANA, DESIGNATING AN APPROPRIATE NAME FOR SAID
TERRITORY OF "MF~4ORYLANEANDW-ESTWOOD, NORTH ANNEX"
AND GIVING NOTICE OF PROTEST HEARING THEREON
WHEREAS, at the request of property owners in the territory
her~in described, a description and map of said territory were pre-
sented to the Santa Aha Planning Commission, which approved annex-
ation of said territory, and to the Orange County Boundary Commission,
which caused a report to be prepared finding that the boundaries of
said proposed annexation met the approval of the Orange County
Surveyor's office in respect to Government Code Section 35002.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Aha hereby initiates proceedings for annexation of said
territory, herein described, to the City of Santa Ana for the following
reasons:
1. That said territory can best be served by the City of
Santa Ana with municipal services of the highest quality
anywhere obtainable at a cost for such services which is
lower than can be obtained anywhere else in the County
of Orange.
2. That it is to the mutual advantage of the City and the
land owners that said territory become a part of said City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby declares
its intention to annex all of the territory hereinbelow described
under the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act
of 1939; hereby finds and declares that said territory is uninhabited
within the meaning of Government Code Section 35303 on the date of
the adoption of this Resolution; that said territory is contiguous
to the City of Santa Aha, lies in the County of Orange, State of
California, and is described as:

Beginning at the Southeast corner of Lot 14, of the
Ports, Borden and sidwell Tract, as shown on a map thereof
recorded in Book 4, Page 624, Miscellaneous Records in the
Office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles County,
California, said point being an angle point in the City
boundary of the City of Santa Aha, California, as established
by the "Spurgeon Memorial Annex", Ordinance NS-111; thence
West along the South line of said Lot 14 and along said City
boundary of the City of Santa Ana, as established by
Ordinance No. 73, a distance of 386 feet to an angle point
in said City boundary of the City of Santa Aha, as established
by the "Memory Lane and Baker N. Annex", Ordinance NS-327;
thence North along said City boundary, as established by said
Ordinance NS-327 and by the "Memory Lane and Baker North No. 2
Annex", Ordinance NS-451, a distance of 600 feet to an angle
point in said City boundary of the City of Santa Aha, as
established by said Ordinance NS-451; thence East, departing
from said City boundary, along a line parallel with the
South line of said Lot 14, a distance of 3~6 feet to a point
on the East line of said Lot 14 and to the City boundary of
the city of Santa Ana, as established by said Ordinance NS-lll;
thence South along the East line of said Lot 14 and along said
City boundary 600 feet to the Southeast corner of said Lot 14
and to the point of beginning.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That "MEMORY LANE AND WESTWOOD, NORTH
ANNEX" is hereby designated as an appropriate name by which said
territory shall be known for the purpose of this annexation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That notice is hereby given that
February 19, 1962, at the hour of 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers,
City Hall, Third and Main Streets, Santa Ana, California, is the time
and place fixed at which said Council will hear protests against this
annexation made by any person owning property within said territory.
At any time before said hearing, any owner of real property within
said territory may file written protest against this proposed annex-
ation. Such protest shall state the name of the owner of the property
affected and the description and area of the property in general terms,
all as provided for in the California Government Code, Section 35312.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 2nd day of January, 1962.
