HomeMy WebLinkAbout62-069P~ESOLUTION NO. 62-69 EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO THE VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS FOR SUPPORT OF THE SPECIAL WATER BOND ELECTION HELD MARCH 13, 1962 WHEREAS, the very rapid population increase in the Santa Aha Basin area has placed a serious and continuing overdraught situation on the Santa Aha River Basin water and on the capacity of the Metro- politan Water District feeder lines throughout Orange County; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has an outstanding water distri- bution system with appurtenant works which has been classified as '~umber 1" by the engineering staff of the Fire Insurance Underwriters, the best classification obtainable, which water system is being subjected to continuing increase in demand, and which system, though of the highest quality possible, can no longer be considered safe in its reliance upon Basin and present feeder line supplies of water; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana, in cooperation with the City of Anaheim, Metropolitan Water District, Orange County Municipal Water District and the Coastal Water District, has jointly contracted for the construction of a new Metropolitan feeder line, to be known as the "East Orange County Feeder No. 2", and has undertaken engineering studies which determined the necessity for additional reservoir capacity and additional Santa Ana trunk lines which are to be financed by a revenue bond issue which was placed before the voters of Santa Ana on March 13, 1962, and was approved by said voters by a wide margin. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Santa Aha hereby recognizes and declares that the approving vote given to the Water Revenue Bonds on March 13, 1962, could not have been possible without informed voters, and recognizes that the leaders of this community have given of their own time and their own money to publicize and make possible the continuation of Santa Ana's ~1- leadership in water supply, the most essential and most critically short single factor in the continued growth, health or even existence of industrial, c~mmercial and residential life on a metropolitan basis in this semiarid county; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That said City Council wishes hereby to express the appreciation of all informed citizens of the City and the special thanks of the individual Council Members to the members of the Water Committee, the Industrial Division of the Santa Aha Chamber of Chamber of Cc~unerce, the Santa Aha Junior/Cc~unerce and the Santa Aha Chamber of Commerce for the splendid job done in presenting the facts to the voters of the City of Santa Aha and for the fine civic leader- ship displayed by the individual members of these organizations in the work done by them to insure that the City voters would have the infor- mation necessary for them to vote intelligently.
