INITIATING PROCEEDINGS FOR THE ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, DESIGNATING AN APPROPRIATE NAME FOR SAID TERRITORY OF "FAIRHAVEN AND CAMBRIDGE NORTHWEST ANNEX" AND GIVING NOTICE OF PROTEST HEARING THEREOlq WHEREAS, at the request of property owners in the territory herein described, a description and map of said territory were pre- sented to the Santa Ana Planning Commission, which approved annex- ation of said territory, and to the Orange County Boundary C~nmission, which caused a report to be prepared finding that the boundaries of said proposed annexation met the approval of the Orange County Surveyor's office in respect to Government Code Section 35002. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Santa Aha hereby initiates proceedings for annexation of said herein described, to the City of Santa Aha for the following territory, reasons: 1. ® That said territory can best be served by the City of Santa Aha with municipal services~ the highest quality anywhere obtainable at a cost for such services which is lower than can be obtained anywhere else in the County of Orange. That it is to the mutual advantage of the City and the land owners that said territory become a part of said City. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby declares its intention to annex all of the territory hereinbelow described under the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhab,ited Territory Act of 1939; hereby finds and declares that said territory is uninhabited within the meaning of Government Code Section 35303 onthe date of the adoption of this Resolution; that said territory is contiguous to the City of Santa Ana, lies in the County of Orange, State of California, and is described as: -1- Beginning at a point on the North line of Lot 15 in Block "D" of the A. B. Chapman Tract as surveyed by Frank Lecouvreur in December 1870 and shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 102, Page 15, Miscellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California, said point being East 30 feet from the Northwest corner Of said Lot 15, said point also being on the East line of Cambridge Street, 60 feet wide, said point also being on the existing boundary of the City of Orange, California as established by "Annexation Number 152", Ordinance Number 12-61, said point also being an angle point in the boundary of the "Fairhaven and Cambridge Southeast Annex" to the city of Santa Aha, California; thence South along said East line of Cambridge Street and its Southerly prolongation and along the boundary of said "Fairhaven and Cambridge Southeast Annex", 1350 feet, more or less, to a point on the South line of Fairhaven Avenue, 60 feet wide, and to an angle point in the boundary of said "Fairhaven and Cambridge Southeast Annex"; thence South 89° 58' 00" West along said South line of Fairhaven Avenue and along the boundary of said "Fairhaven and Cambridge Southeast Annex," 37.02 feet, more or less, to an angle point in the boundary of said "Fairhaven and Cambridge Southeast Annex"; thence South 89° 56' 55" West, departing from the boundary of said "Fairhaven and Cambridge Southeast Annex," along the South line of said Fairhaven Avenue 1312.98 feet, mere or less, to its intersection with the Southerly prolongation of the West line of Lot 14 in Block "D" of said A. B. Chapman Tract, said West line also being the East line of Lot 13 in Block "D" of said A. B. Chapman Tract; thence continuing South 89° 56' 55" West along the South line of said Fairhaven Avenue 5.5 feet to its intersection with the Southerly prolongation of a line which is 5.5 feet West of and parallel with the East line of said Lot 13; thence North along said Southerly prolongation and along said parallel line 1350 feet, more or less, to a point on the North line of said Lot 13, said point being on the existing boundary of the City of Orange as established by "Annexation Number 10", and adopted by Resolution Number 893; thence East along said boundary of the City of Orange and along the North line of said Lot 13, 5.5 feet, to the Northeast corner of said Lot 13 and to the Northwest corner of said Lot 14; thence East, departing fr~n said boundary of the City of Orange, along the North line of said Lot 14, 1290 feet, more or less, to an angle point in the existing boundary of the City of Orange, as established by said "Annexation Number 152"; thence continuing along the North line of said Lot 14 and along said boundary of the City of Orange, 30 feet, to the Northeast corner of said Lot 14 and to the Northwest corner of said Lot 15; thence continuing along said boundary of the City of Orange and along the North line of said Lot 15, 30 feet, to the point of beginning. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That ~~ AND CAMBRIDGE NORTHWEST ANNEX" is hereby designated as an appropriate name by which said territory shall be known for the purpose of this annexation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That notice is hereby given that June 18, 1962, at the hour of 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Third and Main Streets, Santa Aha, california, is the time and -2- place fixed at which said Council will hear written protests against this annexation made by any person owning property within said terri- tory. At any time before said hearing, any owner of real property within said territory may file written protest against this proposed annexation. Such protest shall state the name of the owner of the property affected and the description and area of the property in general terms, all as provided for in the California Government Code, Section 35312. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Aha at its regular meeting held on the 7th day of May, 1962.
