CALIFORNIA, EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO PROPOSITION 4 TO AP-
PEAR ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT
WHEREAS, Proposition 4 regarding assessment of agricultural
property is to appear on the November ballot in the general state-
wide election to be held in California; and
WHEREAS, said Proposition 4 appears to be poorly drawn, is
vague, indefinite, uncertain, does not define its important terms,
and for these reasons among others, can be expected to result in ex-
tensive legislation which can hold up the collection of taxes in
many areas of California; will result in unequal taxation resulting
in greater ad valorem pala~ents by the vast majority of the citizens
of the State and will grant special benefit to a p~ivileged few;.
could result in interference with normal growth within our State;
and for these reasons should be opposed by all citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA: That it opposes Proposition 4 to appear on the
November ballot'in the interest of not increasing the tax burden upon
the residents of the City of Santa Ana and urges all voters in said
City to study said proposition with care and to vote against said
Proposition 4 at the election held November 6, 1962.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its reguiar meeting held on the 16th day~ JUly, 1962.
