OF TUSTIN AVENUE IN SANTA ANA AS PROPOSED BY THE
STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION
WHEREAS, under date of December 11, 1962, the City Council
received notice from the Department of Public Works of the State of
California that the City of Santa Aha was officially notified of
the Department's intention to request the California Highway
Commission to relinquish the portions of superceded State Highway,
VII-ORA-43-SA, described as:
PARCEL 1: That portion of Tustin Avenue (87 feet wide)
beginning at the City of Santa Aha-County of Orange Boundary
Line at Fourth Street and extending northerly along said
Tustin Avenue to the City-County Boundary Line at Seventeenth
Street.
PARCEL 2: That portion of Tustin Avenue (124 and 80 feet
wide) extending northerly from the City of Santa Ana-Orange
County Boundary located approximately 650 feet Northerly
of Seventeenth Street to the City of Santa Aha-County of
Orange Boundary Line located approximately 650~ feet South
of santa Clara Avenue;
and
WHF~REAS, said portion of Tustin Avenue as it now exists at
its intersection with Fourth Street is not in a safe condition and
is a continuing hazard to traffic on said two streets.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
city of Santa Aha that said Council hereby protests to the California
Highway Commission against the relinquishment proposed by the State
Highway Engineer for the reason said Highway is not in a good and
safe condition as it presently exists; that there now exists at the
intersection of Fourth Street and Tustin Avenue a traffic flow
warranting the installation of traffic signals for the safety of the
traveling public; that said traffic control signals should be
installed by the application of the standard formula for sharing of
expense, or that a satisfactory agreement for the installation of
such signals provident hat the Division of Highways would pay not less
than 5~ of the installation cost of said signals, representing its
two legs or highways entering said intersection, prior to the
relinquishment of said portionsof State Highway.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby petitions
the California Highway Commission either to authorize the installation
of these necessary traffic signals or to direct the State Highway
Engineer to proceed with the negotiation of an agreement for such
installation prior to taking any action to relinquish the portions
of sUperceded State Highway hereinabove described.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Clerk of the Council is
directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to J. C. WOMACK,
State Highway Engineer, and a certified copy of this Resolution to
the California Highway Commission.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 7th day January, 1963.
