CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA URGING SUPPORT OF
SENATE BILL 344
WHEREAS~ deficiency studies Undertaken as a result of Senate
Concurrent Resolution No. 62, have indicated that present financing programs
do not adequately provide for the maintenance and construction of present
and future City streets and CoUnty roads~ and
W-HEREAS, adequate street and road networks are the most
important part of the transportation requirements of this State; and
WH~qEAS, the State of California wi1~ experience a tremendous
growth in population and vehicle registration during the next twenty
years~ and
W~I~F~AS, it is necessary that adequate local road systems be
developed concurrently with the freeway system in order that total
traffic needs can be met; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 344will provide funds to assist the
correction of existing and future City street and County road deficiencies;
NOW, T~nG~EFOEE, '1'~,: CITY COUNCIL OF '1'~ CITY OF SANTA ANADOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE, AND ORD~AS FOLLOWS:
S~'"~ION 1: The City Council does hereby express its support of
Senate Bill 344 and respectfully request that the California legislature
adopt such bill into law. It further urges all other cities to support
such legislation.
SECTION 2: The Clerk of the Council is hereby directed to send
a copy of this Resolution to Senator Randolph Collier, Senator John A.
Murdy, Jr., Assemblyman WilliamE. D-~nemeyer, Assemblyman James E. Whetmore,
and Assemblyman Robert E. Badham, and to the legislative body of the
County of Orange, and the League of California Cities.

at its regular meeting held on the 18th day of March, 1963.
