HomeMy WebLinkAbout63-056RESOLUTION NO. 63-56 STATING AND DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, ON APRIL 2ND, 1963 WHEREAS, the City Council by Ordinance No. NS-638 duly called and provided for the holding of a General Municipal Election on April 2nd, 1963, to fill offices and submit to the voters thirteen propositions; and WHEREAS, notice of said Election, notice of nominees for public office, notice of measures to be voted on, notice that copies of the Sections of the Charter of the City of Santa Aha proposed to be amended could be had at the Clerk's office, notice of the election officers and polling places were regularly given in time, form and manner as provided by law; the sample ballots and copies of the Sections as they were proposed to be amended, together with copies of the propositions and all arguments in favor thereof--no arguments against any proposition having been submitted--were regularly mailed to all electors within the City, and sample ballots were mailed to those electors outside of the City but within the Santa Ana School District; and said Election on said date was duly held at the polling places designated and the votes cast there at were canvassed and the returns thereof made in the time and in the manner and form provided for by law; and WHEREAS, on the 9th day of April, 1963, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana has duly assembled at its usual place of meeting and has canvassed the returns of said Election. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER, AS FOLLOWS: That the General Municipal Election was duly held on April 2nd, 1963, and the votes cast thereat were duly and regularly canvassed and the returns thereof made in the time, form and manner required; and that all things were regularly done as required by law; that the absent voter ballots were duly canvassed and counted as required by law and the result of such count is hereinafter stated; that this City Council has duly canvassed the returns of said Election and from said returns it appears and this Council finds that the total number of votes cast in each precinct for each person and for or against each of said thirteen propositions, the number of votes given in the City to each person and for or against each proposition, the whole number of votes cast in the City, the total number of absentee votes cast in the City and in consolidated voting precinct No. 24, which consisted cf two State and County precincts and of School District territory which lies outside of the City Limits of the City of Santa Ana, are as follows: -1- BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That at said General Municipal Election JAMES GILMORE, residing in WARD TWO, and HARRY H. HARVEY, residing in WARD FOUR, were elected to the office of Member of the City Council for a term of four (4) years; and That WILBER F. HARTMAN and CHARLOTTE M. REITER were each elected to the office of Member of the Board of Education for the term of four (4) years; and That each of the thirteen propositions to amend various Sections of the Charter of the City of Santa Aha was approved by more than a majority of the voters voting thereon. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Aha at its adjourned regular meeting held on the 9th day of April, 1963, for the purpose of canvassing the returns of said Election.
