HomeMy WebLinkAbout63-201RESOLUTION 63-201 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA AAIA URGING THE ADOPTION OF A STATE STATUTE WHICH WOULD REQUIRE SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO CONTRIBUTE TOWARD THE EXPENSE OF MAINTAINING SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD PROTECTION WHEREAS, school district boundaries are seldc~a coterminous with city boundaries and many districts contain territory in two or more cities and most districts contain unincorporated territory; and WHEREAS, cities most commonly maintain school structures within cities and continually petition city councils to provide school crossing guards at city expense to serve pupils attending school regardless of place of residence; and WHEREAS, it appears more equitable to have crossing guard expense borne by the school districts, or at least shared by the district and the city on an equal basis. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The City Council of the City of Santa Ana, California, urges the adoption of a State statute requiring that school districts be required to appropriate school funds to contribute toward the expense of maintaining school crossing guard protection. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Aha at its regular meeting held on the 16th day of December, 1963.
