HomeMy WebLinkAbout63-204RESOLUTION 63-204 DECLARING A FIXED CHARGE TO BE MADE FOR LIBRARY CARD ISSUED TO NON-RESIDENTS WHEREAS, considerable difficulty has been experienced and expense incurred by the Santa Aha P~blic Library by reason of books not being returned on the return date and in many cases not being returned at all, and many such books which were returned late or stolen from the library have been taken out by cards of non-residents~ and WHEREAS, the Santa Ana Public Library is a tax supported institution, paid for by the taxpayers of the City, and the volume of book demand is now approximately the maximum that can be handled, and if limitation or inhibition must be imposed it should first be imposed on non-resident library users; and WHERF2%S, the average of the charges made by the nine principal libraries of the County for non-resident library cards is $8.88. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That from and after the 1st day of January, 1964, all non-resident library cards shall be issued for a period of one year only, and a cash charge of $6.00 shall be made for each such card so issued. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That resident or regular library cards shall be issued to any person who is a resident of the City of Santa Ana, who is regularly employed in an occupation within said City, owns real property within said City, or who attends school within said City. It is provided, however, that this Resolution shall not affect the heretofore existing rules for the issuance of library cards on a basis of age.
