Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler. None Council Chamber Santa Ana City Hall November 3, 1952. Each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes of. October 20, 1952, reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on mo~ion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and carried. # In Re On motion of Trustee Dahl,seeOnded by Jerome Bids Install two gas fired boilers Community Center In Re Bids Install conduit and appUrtenances Fire Alarm System In Re Amend. In Re Petition to close North Flower Street was authorized to open bids for the installation of two gas.fired boilers at the Community Center, ll0$ ~. 8th St., as follows: Bid of Anderson Plumbing Co.: Bond in the amount of $650.00 accompanied bid. Install two gas boilers for the sum of $$,969.00. Contractor will deduct from bid the sum cf $146.00 if existing boilers and all mnms~le materials become the property of contractor, Bid of E.R.Jcrdan: Bond in the amount of $525.00. Remove existing boilers located in building at 1105 8th St. and install in their stead new L.J.Mueller Climatrol #20-2-27 boilers, and d$1iver old boilers to 2314 Halladay St, for the sum cf $5,252,00. Bid of Pacific Plumbing Company: Bond in the amount of 10% accompanied bid. Install two boilers at the Community Center for the sum of $5,050.00. On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerome and carried, the bids were referred to the Administrator, Engineer and Park Superintendent for report at this meeting. # The Clerk stated that no bids were received for the furnishing and installing conduit and appurtenances for Fire Alarm System for the Fire Department. On motion of T~ustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the Administrator wss authorized to negotiate for the furn- ishing and installing conduit and appurtenances for Fire Alarm System for the Fire Department. # This being the date set for hearing of protests and no protests havln been received, on motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare an amendment to the Municipal Code reference amendment application No. 92 requiring a six foot solid fence or wall around Junk yards, salvage yards and certain other yards, and to provide for a six months compliance clause # This being the date set for hearing of protests and no protests havin been received reference Amendment Application No. 96 of Harold H. Greenwald oral, to reclassify from R-2 Residential District to the C-2 General Commercial District, a parcel of land 150 feet deep along the south side of West First Street between Baker and Bristol Streets,! the parcel being described as the east 550 feet of the north 150 feet of Lot 1 of Tract No. 905. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare amend- merit to Municipal Code to reclassify the property. # A petition was read signed by $63 residents of North Flower Street requesting that the street be closed off completely. Colburn stated that she had obtained information from Frank Balfour, Chief Engineer of the State Highway Department that it would be advisable to close No~h Flower StX'eet when the Freeway was completed. On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the petitlom was referred to the Administrator, Engineer and Chief of Police for report December 1, 1952. # Communication was read 'from Walter Collins and Grace F. Vandenbsrg, together with Grant Deed for a 50 foot street right-of-way from Washington Avenue south to the southern line of their properties, approximately 750 feet, and bond'in the amount of $16,000.00 covering the construc$ion-of sewers, manholes, water lin~s, drainage culverts, street pavement, curbs, sidewalks and other improvements. On motion of Trustee Jerome~ seconded by McBride and carried, the matter was referred to the Administrator .and City Engineer for report at this meeting. # On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and carried,'the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance granted to Guy M. Penn to permit a proposed building, for a store, at 151~ North Main Street, to extend into the R-3 Distrfct approximately 5~ feet, with an extension or shelter for rolling stock and equipment on the north 30 feet, to extend all the way to Sycamore Street, permit automobile parking on the remaining area, waive front and side yards on the entire lot for such purposes, and also to permit an identification sign facing Sycamore Street. . On motion of Trustee Dahi, seconded by Hunter and carried, the follow- lng Ordinance entitled: "An Ordinance amending-~Santa Ana Municipal Code' .by amending Article IX thereof creating changes in District Boundaries and by amend- ing Sheet Number 18 of the Districting Map to show the reclassification" of certain p~gcels of land 'between Bristol and Baker Streets and lying! adjacent to the north of a line approximately 293 feet north of the : center line of'West 17th Street, from R-1 to R.2 as to a part of the land and from R-1 to R-3 as to a portion abutting Bristol Street, in accordance with applicationof Emmet C. On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution Accepting ~asement Deed" from Walter C. Collins and Grace Fuller Vandenberg, conveying an easement across that certain real property being the east 25.00 feet of Lots B3 and B4 of Dean's Addition, and the west 25.00 feet of Lots A2 and A3 of Dean's Addition, was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 52-93 and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees William Jerome, J.L.McBride, Orson H. On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Trustee Mcbride, seconded by Dahl and carried, the bid of Anderson Plumbing Company, in the sum of $4969.00 was accepted for the furnishing of two gas fired bo. ilers at the Community Center and all other bids rejected. Communication was read from Planning 0ommisslon requesting that the Council study the advisability of Freeway' connections at First Street and' make studies relative To a grade separation where the Southern Pacific Company's tracks and the Atchison,~ Topeka and Santa Fe Railwa; CompanY's tracks cross EaSt First Street. Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending approval of Tentative Map ef Tract No. 1521, submitted by Walter Elliott, covering a portion of the property lying south of Edinger Street east of Park Drive, west of Flower Street and north of Tract No. 1339, and consisting of 107 lots. On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was accepte~ and Tentative Hap of Tract No. 1521 approved subject to condition that all wind-break trees within the subdivision boundaries and all trees in the dedicated right-of-way be removed by the subdivider. # Communication was read from the Plannl.ng Commission recommending approval of Tentative Map of Tract No. 1625, submitted by Cecil C. DeVote, covering a portion of the property lying south of Edinger Street and betweenPmrk Drive and an extension of Baker Street and is bounded on the south by Tract No. 1367. On motion of T~ustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was accepted and Tentative Map of Tract No. 1625 approved subject to the City Engineerls requirements as to drainage.. . On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the reports cf the Building Department, Police Department and JudgeSs Office, for the month of October and report of the Auditor on ~xnds as cf September 30, 1952, were referred to the Finance Committee. # Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending approval of Tentative Map of Tract No. 1534, submitted by W.K.Lindsay, showing a tier of lots on each side of a proposed ?40 foot westerly extension of Sharon Road, subject to the condition that a street ~unnlng north from Sharon Road approximately along the line separatingl Lots 2 and 3 is provided. On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and carried, Tentative Map of Tract No. 143~ was referred to the Council as a whole for further study and report at the next meeting. Communication was read from H.D.Pickering, Poundmaster, requesting payment .of compensation which was discontinued as of Feb~. 4th, t943 for services rendered as Poundmaster. On recommendation of the City Attorney and on motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried. the request was denied. # Communication was~read fro~ Barbara Hewes requesting an appointment on behalf of the third grade pupils of Spurgeon School to visit the City Hall, and on motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, the request was referred to the Administrator for an appointment. # Communication was read from Mrs. Robert Weiland requesting that a crossing guard b'e placed at Bristol Street to protect the children who attend the Glenn L. Noes, Trustees William Jerome Absent, Trustees None # On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare an Ordinance reducing the maximum prtma-faole ~peed to 35 mile~ per hour on the city-owned side of Delhi Road and the City Engineer was requested to make the necessary engineering survey required by the State Act Code Section 511.3 On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by.Dahl and carried, the request of Thomas W. Hotel Claremont, at Berkeley, on November !3,1952, with expenses paid. #, On recommendation of the Administrator and on motion of Trustee Dab/, seconded by Jerome and carried, the purchase of a Studebaker V-8 automobile with a trade-in of an automobile in the Fire Department, at a net cost of $1150.00 plus taxes, was authorized. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the Administrator and Purchasing Agent were authorized to secure quotationl on the p%trchaae of two Harley-Davidson motorcycles and two Motorola radios, for use of the Motor Traffic Squad, in the Police Department. # On motion of T~ustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, the City Council adjourned.
