Good Afternoon,
Thank you for bringing this concerning incident to my attention. The safety and well-being of our students are our top
priorities, and it is deeply troubling to hear about this situation. It is crucial that we work together to ensure our
community's safety, especially for our students, who should feel secure on their way to and from school. I have included
our School Police Chief, Sergio Mancilla in this correspondence to ensure that we are fully aligned and may coordinate
any necessary actions moving forward.
Sincerely,
Jerry Almendarez | Superintendent
Santa Ana Unified School District

Mayor and City councilmembers,
I heard students from Villa elementary were walking home from school yesterday, and came across a
body at the 1000 block of E. Chestnut and railroad property.
Students called 911, and OCFA responded and apparently the person was deceased.
1
For several years now, there have been on-going issues with railroad properties located within the city
of Santa Ana. Please hold the railroad property owners accountable and take legal action.
Kind regards,
Chris Schmidt
