Use caution when opening attachments or links. I am in the Council Chambers. However, I arrived a little late and missed the cutoff of the public speaker's list. Here is what I wanted to say to you tonight: Good evening, Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem and City Council members. My name is Jose Romo. I am a business owner and member of the Downtown Santa Ana community. th My company, DTSA Services, located at 201 E. 4 Street, proudly provides Clean and Safe Services in Downtown Santa Ana. I am here tonight to voice my strong support for the City’s sponsorship of the Downtown Santa Ana First Saturday of the Month ArtWalk. I’ve been part of the downtown community for over thirty years, and I’ve seen our community go through a lot of changes, but through it all, ArtWalk has been a cornerstone for our community. And now that COVID and the OC StreetCar construction are in the past, community events like ArtWalk are more important than ever. ArtWalk is more than just an event; it is a vital part of what makes Santa Ana a unique, vibrant city. From a fiscal standpoint, ArtWalk has proven time and again to be a positive driver for our local economy. It draws thousands of people to downtown, many of whom patronize our restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues. When people come to ArtWalk, they are not just experiencing art—they are dining in our restaurants, shopping in our stores, and discovering the unique charm of Downtown Santa Ana. The ripple effect is significant: supporting our local businesses and contributing to a thriving downtown that benefits our entire city. ArtWalk night is consistently one of our most vibrant evenings of the month. Beyond the economic benefits, ArtWalk is essential for cultivating a sense of community for Santa Ana residents, providing a dynamic and inclusive space where people from all walks of life can come together, experience art, and engage with the creative spirit that defines our city. ArtWalk is a celebration of our diverse, creative, and resilient community. By supporting this event, the City Council will not only be investing in the arts, but in an event that instills civic pride. Thank you for considering this investment in our community’s cultural and economic vitality. 1 Jose Romo 2 Flores, Dora From:Annabella Pritchard <tinzar2004@hotmail.com> Sent:Thursday, September To:eComment Subject:Re: City Council Meeting! The Frida Cinema! Logan Crow! Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my support for the city of Santa Ana's sponsorship of The Frida Cinema's production of the monthly DTSA First Saturday Art Walk events. Last year, when I served on the board of Community Engagement, I had the privilege of helping to organize art exhibitions at Casa Bloom Studios in downtown Santa Ana. The exhibitions were held on the first Saturday of the month, this way we could depend on having large crowds of families visiting our exhibition who were already in the heart of the downtown arts district to enjoy Art Walk Night. Logan Crow and his talented team's thoughtful curation of Art Walk Night provides so much joy and excitement and meaningful engagement between creatives and the community. Personally, if I have family or friends visiting me from out-of- town, I insist that their visit coincides with The Frida Cinema's production of Art Walk Night because this guarantees that their experience of Orange County will be memorable and magical. Donation Agreement with The Frida Cinema to Sponsor the DTSA First Saturday ArtWalk (General Fund) Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links. Dear Mayor, Councilmembers and city staff, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my strong support for funding and sponsoring the monthly Artwalk in Downtown Santa Ana, a vibrant event that serves as a cornerstone of our local culture, economy, and public art. This event brings together artists, local businesses, and families, creating a unique atmosphere that benefits our city in numerous ways. Economic Development Benefits: 1. Boosting Local Businesses: The Artwalk draws visitors from across the region, significantly increasing foot traffic to our downtown area. This influx of attendees provides a substantial boost to local businesses, including restaurants, cafes, and retail shops, fostering economic growth. A thriving Artwalk helps these businesses flourish, generating more sales tax revenue and contributing to the overall prosperity of Santa Ana. 2. Tourism and City Branding: As a cultural hub, the Artwalk enhances Santa Ana’s reputation as an arts-friendly city. By funding and sponsoring this event, we can attract more tourists and visitors, not just for the Artwalk itself but for other city attractions. This increased visibility puts Santa Ana on the map as a destination for cultural tourism, which can have a long-lasting impact on our local economy. Benefits for Artists: 1. Exposure and Opportunities: The Artwalk provides a vital platform for local artists to showcase their work to a broader audience. This exposure is crucial for emerging and established artists alike, offering them opportunities to network, gain recognition, and sell their artwork. Supporting the Artwalk means investing in our local talent and nurturing the creative economy. 2. Community Engagement: By participating in the Artwalk, artists can engage directly with the community, fostering a deeper connection between art and the public. This engagement not only enriches the cultural fabric of our city but also encourages residents to support the arts, contributing to a more vibrant and inclusive community. Benefits for Restaurants and Families: 1. Increased Patronage for Restaurants: With the Artwalk attracting a diverse crowd, local eateries experience a surge in customers during these events. This increased patronage supports the hospitality sector and encourages new and existing restaurants to invest in our city, enhancing Santa Ana’s culinary scene. 2. Family-Friendly Environment: The Artwalk is not just an event for art enthusiasts; it’s a family- friendly experience that offers activities for all ages. By supporting this event, we provide families with 1 a safe, educational, and enjoyable way to spend their evenings, fostering community spirit and enhancing the quality of life in Santa Ana. Preserving Cultural Heritage and Public Art: 1. Celebrating Our Cultural Heritage: The Artwalk plays a crucial role in preserving and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Santa Ana. It highlights the diversity and history of our community through art, ensuring that these cultural narratives are kept alive for future generations. By investing in this event, we are also investing in the preservation of our shared heritage and identity. 2. Supporting Public Art: The Artwalk brings attention to the importance of public art in our city. It provides a platform for murals and other public art forms, encouraging conversations about their significance and the need for their preservation. This emphasis on public art helps to maintain and enhance the aesthetic and cultural landscape of Santa Ana, making it a more beautiful and engaging place to live. In light of these numerous benefits, I am in full support of funding and sponsorship of our monthly Art Walk through the Frida Cinema. This investment will not only support our local artists and businesses but will also contribute to the cultural, economic, and artistic vitality of Santa Ana. Thank you for your time and consideration. I am happy to discuss this further and provide any additional information you may need.
