the Minutes of March 16th and March 30th, 1953, reading of
the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion of
Trustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and carried.

The Clerk read communication from the Planning Commission together
amended recommendations reference the matter of zoning for industrial
purposes the areas designated as Areas "A", "C" and "D", and that Area
"B" be considered as a future residential area. On motion of Trustee
Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the communication of the Planning
Commission, together with recommendations and descriptions of the

On recommendation of the committee of the Joint Outfall Sewer and on
motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, the bid of
John Wiley Jones Co. Inc., was accepted for the furnishing of chlorine
at the Joint Outfall Sewer, and all other bids rejected.
On recommendation of the committee and on motion of T~ustee Dahl,
seconded by Jerome and carried, the bid of Sully-Miller Contracting
Co., was accepted for the improvement of West Cubbon Str.eet from Bristo~
Street to Shelton Street.
On recommendation of the committee and on motion of T~ustee Hunter,
s~econded by Dahl and carried, the bid of the Pacific States Cast Iron
Pipe Company, in the sum of $39,74?.50, was accepted for the furnishing
of 5000 feet 12 inch, 10,000 feet 6 inch, 500 feet 14 inch and 500 feet~

Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending that
the Council abandon the southerly portion of Orange Avenue and on
motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and carried, the communi-

On motion of T~ustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, Map Tract
No~ 1598 for the dedication of Townsend Street, Tenth Street, Washingt¢
Avenue and English Street for public use for highway purposes, was
approved and officials were authorized to sign same, subject to the
filing of bond in the sum of $16,000.00 by Laelco Inc., and approval
cf bond by the City Attorney.
Communication was read from the Military Order of the Purple Heart,
Inc., requesting pe~misslon to use one meter parking space to display
an e~hibit of antique and modern firearms and war equipment, the exact
date of display to be determined later. On motion of T~ustee Hunter,
seconded by Dahl and carried, the request was referred to the
Administrator for investigation and report at a later date.

Communication was read from Public Works Office, Eleventh Naval Distri¢
stating that the Government wishes to enter into an agreement witk the
City to construct a fuel oil line between the U.S.Air Force fuel oll
storage depot No. 2 at Norwalk, and the Marine Corps Air Station,
E1 Toro in order to supply fuel for'the operation of aircraft at the
Marine Co~ps Air Station,'and that the pipeline approaches Santa Ana
in the right-of-way of the Santa Ana branch of the Southern Pacific
Railway leaving the Southern Pacific right-of-way at 17th Street and
proceeding easterly on l?th Street, a distance of approximately 5858
feet to the easterly city limits of Santa Aha. On motion of Trustee
Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the Administrator and Engineer
were directed to ~ite a lette~' to Earl G. Dobbins, Commander, CRC,
USN, Acting District-Public Works Officer, advising that sometime in
the month of November the City Engineer suggested an altePnat6 route
be used and the use of such'possible alternate route to be exhausted;
the City not being in favor of a fuel line ~unning through Santa Aha
and a copy of the letter ordered sent to Congressman James Utt.

Communication was ~ead from Division of Highways acknowledging ~eceipt
of certified copy of Resolution No. 53-38 requesting that the freeway
agreement now in e~fect covering construction on the Santa Ana Freeway,
Road VII-Ora-174-SA, be revised to provide for the construction of a
grade separated t~affic interchange at the northerly extension of
Bristol Street connecting with the westerly extension of La Veta
Avenue, and advising that studies will be started immediately on this
~evision to determine the best method by which it may be accomplished.

ment in the prospective purchase of the city owned strip of land
adjoining his property on North Main Street at Santa Clama Avenue, and

of Jasper Farney for a forty foot approach to the eight-family apart-
ment building on the corner of Vance and Minter Streets, was referred
to the City Engineer for report and recommendation at the next meeting.
Communication was read from John O. Haley requesting that a set-back
line be established on Bristol Street from 17th Street to Memory Lane
before the plans are approved for the subdivision or any improvements
made. On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of

Communication was read from the County Clerk advising that the City of
Santa Aha is indebted to the County in the amount of $912.00 by reason
'of the consolidation of the Santa Ana City propositions with the
November 5, 1952 General Election, which charge is based on the
adopted by th~ Board of Supervisors, Narch 25, 1953. On motion of
Trustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and carried, the matter was
to the City Attorney for report at the next meeting as to the legality
of the charge.

Building Inspector advising that the new Headquarters Fire Station
building is complete in every manner and has the final approval of the
Building Department and recommending that the building be accepted by
the City Council. On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and
carried, the communication was received, filed and the building
accepted a~ of twelve noon, Friday, April 10, 1953.

The Administrator reported that after a thorough investigation of the
complaint of Mrs. Helen Krautkremer, eta1, reference the manner in
which the trash men handle the barrels, he did not believe the trash
men were misusing the containers and that the matter, had been reported
to the contractor for their investigation. On motion of T~ustee
Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the report was accepted and
communication ordered filed.

On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Trustee Jerome,
seconded by Dahl and carried, the City Engineer was inst~cted to
prepare a Resolution esta-blishing a loading zone at 107 Grand Avenue,
as requested by Roy S. Horton.
On recommendation of the commlttee and on motion of T~ustee Dahl,
seconded by Hunter and carried, the request of Geo. "Tex" Tansy for a
ten o~' twelve minute g~een parking zone in front cf his place of
business at 222 Bpurgeon Street was denied.
On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Trustee Dahl,
seconded by Jerome and carried, the City Engineer was instructed to
prepare a Resolution establishing two 2h-minute zones northerly from
the intersection on the west side of Bristol Street, two 2S-minute
zones westerly on the north side cf West Sth Street, one 2~-minute
zone westerly on the south side of West ~th Street, and one 2$-mlnute
zone southerly on the west side of Bristol steer, ~'eference the
request of George Nunton, 1309~ West Fourth Street.
The Administrator stated a further investigation was made reference the
request of the First Presbyterian Church for a loading zone and it was
his recommendation that a loading zone be established on the Sycamore
Street side of the Church. On motion of T~ustee Jerome, seconded by
Dahl and carried, the appointed committee was instructed to study the
possibility of the use of hoods or the mss of no-parking signs issued
by the Police Department.

The Administrator requested further time reference the acceptance Of
beqdest in the sum of $5000.00 made to the City in the will of Walter
L. Neill, deceased, for the purpose of erecting a drinking fountain in
Birch Park with a suitable plaque, and on motion of Trustee Jerome,
seconded by Dahl and carried,, the request was g~anted.
The Clerk read repor~ of the appointed committee reference claim cf
Nary Lieberknecht, ll0 East Delhi Road, in the sum of $58.52 for
services rendered by James H. Russell & Son, when the City sewer line
stopped up for a period of over a month. On ~otion of T~ustee
seconded by Jerome and carried, a copy of the committee r~port was
ordered forwarded to the Insurance Carrier.
The Administrator stated that R.J.Ncble Company is the low bidder on
contract for the widening and construction of South Main Street from
