Repabilic homes resident. -- Mai 1 Hall, Jennifer From:SUSUMU MIYAI <ken_miyamo@yahoo.com> Sent:Thursday, September To:eComment Subject:#22 ON AGENDA FOR 10/1/24 - SIGNAL AT SPRUCE / SEGERSTROM Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links. To whom it may concern at the City of Santa Ana, i am writing this e-mail as a concerned resident of the neighborhood affected by traffic at Spruce and Segerstrom. A traffic light at this intersection is critical to improve safety and reduce the number of cars trying to avoid traffic on Bristol or Segerstrom by cutting through the neighborhood. Most of these cars cut through the neighborhood because there is no signal at the intersection. There have also been several bad accidents and even a tragic death since I became a resident. Please understand that this traffic signal at Spruce and Segerstrom is very important. Since David Ream was City Manager. We have had 2 deaths at this corner, and numerous traffic accidents. All photos sent to Public Works. Many residents live in fear of turning left from Spruce onto Segerstrom and turn right because of so much traffic and fast cars. Please vote YES on item #22 to help us move forward. As we have 80% of the funding from 2 years ago. So much needed for our quality of life in REPUBLIC Homes. Use caution when opening attachments or links. Greetings Council Members, I'm writing to request your support and affirmative votes for #22 on the Oct 1 agenda. I'm a longtime resident of the Republic Homes tract, I grew up here - we moved into our home in 1985. We have needed this traffic stoplight for many years. I believe you're aware of the multiple fatalities at this intersection over the years. I personally was involved in a traffic accident at this intersection in 1991 at the age of 16. I was lucky enough to survive with a few scrapes but could have been seriously injured. The speed of the oncoming traffic through this two-way intersection is very dangerous. My understanding is the majority of the funding has already been secured through longtime and ongoing efforts for over twenty years. Please vote affirmative to resolve this once and for all for the safety of our city and residents.
