Dear Ms. Hall,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to offer my full support and a character reference for
Councilman Johnathan Hernandez of Santa Ana's Ward 5. As Pastor of The Life Center Church and Executive
Director of Neutral Ground, I have had the privilege of working closely with Johnathan on various community
initiatives, and I have seen firsthand his dedication to serving with integrity and purpose.
Since our partnership began, we have collaborated with Johnathan on impactful programs such as the first
Summer Night Lights in 2016 and every year since, gang prevention and intervention programming, and the
first Chicano Heritage Festival. Johnathan's involvement in these events has always centered on uplifting and
empowering our community, with no personal agenda other than to serve. His contributions to these initiatives
have been invaluable, fostering a safer, more connected environment for the people of Santa Ana.
Johnathan's work has always been motivated by his Chicano heritage and his deep-rooted commitment to Santa
Ana's history and people. When we reached out to him for support, we did so because he represents our shared
values and dedication to this city. We did not anticipate any conflict; we simply knew Johnathan was the right
person to help us push forward on our mission.
Though recent inquiries have raised concerns about his involvement in community events, I can say with
complete confidence that his actions have consistently been in good faith. Johnathan's role has always been one
of support, without overstepping boundaries, as he has worked tirelessly to strengthen the planning and success
of each event. His commitment to Santa Ana's well-being has been evident in every step he's taken with us.
I am proud to work alongside Councilman Hernandez and am deeply grateful for his continued dedication to
our community. Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to discuss this further.
Best,
n Nati Alvarado Executive Director

We the People demand the findings of the frivolous $175,000 investigation study into a hostile workplace at the City of
Santa Ana.
We had to pay for what we already knew
"corrupt and compromised politicians" and "compromised staff" a waste of taxpayer money, resources and time we can
never get back.

SURPRISE! Special Secret City Council Meeting Agenda October 28, 2024
"SPECIAL" OPEN MEETING — 5:30 PM
CITY COUNCIL CHAMBER
22 Civic Center Plaza Santa Ana, CA 92701
First I would like to say thank you and pay tribute and honor to the Voice of OC, who has been here for us all along,
uncovering the Truth in these lies that this council has always tried to feed us.
We The People have concluded our own investigations, into the demonic force of nature that had control on this city.
The so-called Boogeyman lurker and as an outcome, October 8, 2024, we fired
Santa Ana City Attorney Sonia R. Carvalho.
Never was she on my team. Never have I spoken with her.
Never did you represent me. {We The People}
Never did you provide services for me<.
Never did you counsel me or guide me in matters regarding the City of Santa Ana.
Valerie Amezcua was condemned here May Day 2024, along with all her unions, their political donations and their
candidates they bought with stolen funds. You're repeat offenders here.
The County of Orange with Frank Kim as CEO was fired 4/11/2024, and ended in utter disgrace with the downfall of the
entire board of criminal supervisors, millions of dollars in stolen public funds and child abuse charges.
Our corrupt police force have never protected us from the likes of you the real criminals, or outside predators you sell us
out to. Your fallen legacy is disgusting and diminished and finished here tonight.
Santa Ana does deserve an apology from "corrupt and compromised politicians" and "compromised staff". and we also
deserve a new start for bearing the brunt of the burden here in Orange County. Our Sanctuary City.
Next Action Item: We The People demand you immediately do right by us and handle the oversight of our police
immediately by hiring the right Oversight Director candidate who is independent and not beholden to your control.
I am calling to demand that Santa Ana City Council immediately hire Sean Garcia-Leys for Independent Oversight
Director. We want a candidate who actually stands for accountability! We want a Commission that actually operates
independently of Santa Ana Police Department. We want Sean Garcia-Leys for Independent Oversight Director.

Santa Ana Police Oversight Commission has zero
effect and undermines our safety when it's
beholden to a condemned mayor and a corrupt
force. This complaint is lodged specifically against
Danny Vega, Chairperson and Mayoral
Representative, in collusion with Valerie
Amezcua. As a protected class of citizens in a
sanctuary city,
-March 2024, citizen complaints began to be filed
against Santa Ana Police.
-April 11, 2024 County of Orange fired. They have
absolutely no jurisdiction over us.

condemned by the Community.
-in retaliation, on May 15. 2024, students, faculty
and community members were attacked at UC

enforcement agency in Orange County under
duress and lies, they were ordered to UCI, all
dressed up in SWAT costumes and lethal force
again, threatening to kill us for hours again, this
being Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Subject: City Council Special Meeting for 10/28/24 -Support for Councilmember Johnathan
Hernandez
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Dear City Manager Mr. Nunez,
I am writing to express my support for Councilmember Johnathan Hernandez, who, despite the recent investigation
findings, has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to our community through his city council office and actions as
a servant leader. While his past decisions may have diverged from organizational protocol and resulted in a infraction, it
is important to consider his history of dedication to our community and the intent behind his actions.
Throughout his tenure, Councilmember Hernandez has consistently prioritized the needs of the black and brown
community over his own, demonstrating integrity and care in every decision. This commitment is reflected in initiatives
that have benefited both the black and brown community such as establishing August as Chicano Heritage Month,
supporting the creation of street toppers honoring community leaders such as Helen M. Shipp, Josephine "Chepa"
Andrade and more recently Virginia and William Guzman, he garnered support to fund mural restorations which assisted
in renovating the 33 year old RAZA mural, and championed cultural celebrations such as Juneteenth and the Chicano
Festival. These acts are a true mark of a servant leader who prioritizes the well-being and development of others.
While I understand the importance of upholding organizational guidelines, it is also crucial to view this incident within
the broader context of his service. His dedication to spotlighting the black and brown contributions in our community
cannot be overshadowed by this recent event. I encourage you to consider the positive impact he has made when
evaluating any further actions.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I hope you will view Councilmember Hernandez with the same
appreciation for his service that so many in our community share.
Sincerely,

Subject: Johnathan Ryan Hernandez
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Hello, my name is LaDonna Williams. I am writing in regards to the special meeting today regarding Johnathan
Hernandez.
In the short time that I've known Johnathan, he has always steered his words and actions towards what was right for his
constituents and the Santa Ana community. As the councilmember to one of the most diverse Wards in Santa Ana, his
advocacy is for more than just the Hispanics in Santa Ana. He understands that there are African Americans that are far
more underrepresented and need a voice in the community that we helped to build. Many African Americans were
stationed here from "The South" when the El Toro base was built, including my family in the 50s. We fought for our
country, purchased homes; we built business (literally and figuratively) alongside our neighbors.
The City of Santa Ana went on record as a "Safe Harbor" city. So far, it's not been willing to go on record as an ally for its
African American diasporas. When it comes to our holidays, we're told that it's "just an [expensive] party", but no other
group has received this same criticism despite receiving trifold budgets.
Johnathan has only acted in good faith. He wants to see everyone win, not just one group over the other.
Sincerely,
LaDonna Williams

Subject:City Council Special Meeting for 10/28/24 -Support for Councilmember Johnathan
Hernandez and recommendation to end the war
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Councilman Johnathan Ryan Hernandez faces the Santa Ana Police Associa?on tonight Oct 28 at 5:00 PM at a Special
City Council mee?ng.
The accusa?on centers on his overly involvement in helping the community and disenfranchised. Consistent with his
work before he became a Councilman, he has been working to build a rose garden in concrete and to invest and educate
our youth rather than build prisons.
As Councilman, he was asked by residents of La Placinta Cinco to address the problems.
With residents, he organized mee?ngs and brought police officers to listen to the resident and helped them develop
solu?ons. He showed them how to use the My Santa Ana app to report crimes and problems.
He worked with the Artesia Pillar Neighborhood Associa?on to bring back ac?vi?es and renova?ons to El Salvador Park
and to build more parks. The community asked him.
He has commi?ed no crime. He served the community with his heart and love.
It is not a ba?le for power for he seeks none. He is empowered by the community.
Johnathan done nothing wrong except to serve his Council Ward. In the past, the underserved neighborhoods
had to go to war with the City to get streetlights and paved sidewalks.
Under Mayor Sarmiento, relationships and service were cordial and collegiate. Currently, there is a different
leadership style that is more abrasive.
This is still a democracy, and these representatives are still public servants.
There are many sides to this story. Consistent with his values, when the Police Association wanted to finance
his campaign, Johnathan politely and firmly said" No, thank you. I don't want your money. I don't need your
money. Use your money to buy influence elsewhere. Leave this race alone. I have nothing negative to say
about my opponent. I respect him. We are running for different reason. Don't set up a political action
committee to go after him or me. Leave us alone so the voters can decide. Just stay out. "
This conflict has been festering on all sides. Misinformation abounds. It is like the war in the Middle East that
never ends. There is no winner. We all lose.
After being away from Council meetings for a long while, I was in the City Council Chambers when an
argument erupted. I was shocked.
It was a poor behavior on all sides. It is true that the former City Manager and Police Chief was respected and
loved. Their departure was sudden and questionable. The community was concerned, and we brought it to the
attention of our representatives.
1
Whereas in the past, the City worked in concert with neighborhood associations and all ethnic groups. With
the new process ushered by the Mayor, it takes time and knowledge that the neighborhoods do not have at
times.
It takes more paperwork and often there are last minute changes and modifications that makes it difficult for
people who work for a living to follow up. At times depending on the staff, the way a City Staff respond may
set off questions like who is in charge or, but you said we could and now who changed it and what????
There is often a lot of plausible deniability.
Often, we need the Councilman and his staff to explain things to all sides.
These actions on behalf of the community and organizations are misunderstood and mischaracterization.
The Chicano Heritage Festival, Juneteenth, Black History Parade, Chinatown Apology, The Memorial to Early
Chinese Immigrants and Indigenous Peoples Day has roots in activities in Councilman Hernandez’s Ward that
goes back decades.
The planning process involve many leaders, organizations, and community relationships that Councilman
Hernandez was carrying into those meetings with staff on our behalf.
The planning process was cordial and working with staff was a during Mayor Sarmiento’s term.
Then, procedures, processes and multiple approvals were changed and many of us did not know why and
were caught off guard as we were still working on those projects.
Often in trying to find out what happened, we were told contradictory reasons.
Our representative should have a seat at the table to explain our concerns and to help resolve issues together
with staff.
I would like to see the redacted portions of the case made public.
I am reminding people who Johnathan is and not who he is portrayed to be. He is a person works for the
community.
He speaks truth power.
It would be to the interest of the entire city for all parties to drop this baloney, shut up, and don't get in a
ruffle again.
