Mayor Amezcua and members of the City Council
The Artesia Pillar Neighborhood Association has held community meetings and attended City meetings to recommend a
name for a Park between Fairview Street and King Street.
We recommend La Artista Artesia Pillar Park. It was not the name chosen by the Park and Recreation Commission and
the Planning Commission. However, we the residents of Artesia Pillar would like to have the Park named La Artista
Artesia Pillar Park.
Our recommendation respects and honors the Chicano art and mural renaissance that grew out of the concrete that
once held us back but through building a healthy
community we have increased pride, unity, and neighborhood preservation. Our art and our local artists lifted us up.
We appeal to the City Council for your support.
