ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF SANTA ANA,
DESIGNATING AN APPROPRIATE NAME FOR SAID TERRITORY
OF "SANTA ANA RIVER SOUTH OF FIFTH STREET ANNEX",
ANDGIVING NOTICE OF PROTEST HEARING THEREON
WHEREAS, heretofore, the Local Agency Formation Commission of
Orange County approved the map and description of the territory
hereinbelow contained and the annexation of said territory to the
City of Santa Ana, California; and the Planning C~mnission of the
City of Santa Ana has approved said annexation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana hereby initiates proceedings for annexation of said
territory to the City of Santa Ana for the following reasons:
That said territory can best be served by the City of
Santa Ana with municipal services of the highest quality
anywhere obtainable at a cost for such services which is
lower than can be obtained anywhere else in the County
of Orange;
2. That it is to the mutual advantage of the City and the
landowner that said territory become a part of said City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana hereby declares its intention to annex all of the territory
hereinbelow described under the provisions of the Annexation of
Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939; hereby finds and declares that
said territory is uninhabited within the meaning of the Government
Code Section 35303 on the date of the adoption of this Resolution;
and that said territory is contiguous to the City of Santa Ana, lies
in the County of Orange, State of California, and is described as:
Beginning at the Southeast corner of the "Harbor and Edinger N.E.
Annex" to the City of Santa Ana as adopted by Santa Aha City
Ordinance NS-723, said point lying on the Westerly right of way
line of the former Newbert Protection District Channel for the
Santa Ana River; thence North 14° 01' 16" East, 790.00 feet, more
or less, along said City boundary and along said Westerly right of
way line to a point on a non-tangent curve concave Northwesterly
and having a radius of 22,718.33 feet; thence Northeasterly along
said curve along said City boundary, and along said Westerly
right of way line, through a central angle of 1° 23' 14", an arc
distance of 550.00 feet, more or less, to the Northeast corner of
said City Ordinance NS-723 and to the Southeast corner of the
"West Santa Ana Annex" to the City of Santa Ana as adopted by
Santa Ana City Ordinance NS-367; thence departing from said "Harbor
and Edinger N.E. Annex" Northeasterly along said curve, along said
City boundary, and along said Westerly right of way line, through a
central angle of 3° 30' 28", an arc distance of 1,390.91 feet to
a tangent line; thence North 9~ 19' 01" East 1,296.00 feet along
said tangent line, along said City boundary, and along said
Westerly right of way line to a point in a tangent curve concave
Southeasterly and having a radius of 11,659.20 feet; thence
Northeasterly along said curve, along said City boundary, and
along said Westerly right of way line, through a central angle
of 16° 15' 17", an arc distance of 3,307.70 feet, more or less, to
an angle point, said angle point being the Southwest corner of the
"Fifth Street and Santa Ana River S.E. Annex" to the City of
Santa Ana as adopted by Santa Ana City Ordinance NS-666, said
point also being on a line that is parallel with and 30.00
Southerly, measured at right angles, from the center line of
Fifth Street; thence departing from said "West Santa Ana Annex"
and from said westerly right of way line of the former Newbert

Protection District Channel, South 89° 13' 16" East 448.00 feet,
more or less, along said parallel line and along said City boundary
to the Easterly right of way line of the former Newbert Protection
District Channel, and to an angle point in said City boundary, said
point being on an arc of a non-tangent curve concave Southeasterly
and having a radius of 11,259.20 feet, said curve being concentric
with said Westerly right of way line of the former Newbert
Protection District, having a radius of 11,659.20 feet; thence
Southwesterly along said curve, along said City boundary, and along
said Easterly right of way line, through a central angle of
3° 34' 39", an arc distance of 703.00 feet, more or less, to an
angle point in said City boundary and to the Northwest corner of
the "Sadd Annex" to the City of Santa Ana as adopted by Santa Ana
City Ordinance NS-66; thence departing from said "Fifth Street and
Santa Ana River S.E. Annex" Southwesterly along said curve, along
said City boundary, and alon~ said Easterly ~ight of way line,
through a central angle of 3 36' 55", an arc distance of 710.45
feet, more or less, to a point on the center line of First Street
and to the South west corner of City Ordinance NS-66, said point also
being the Northwest corner of the "Sullivan and Edinger Annex" to
the City of Santa Ana as adopted by Santa Ana City Ordinance NS-366;
thence departing from said "Sadd Annex" Southwesterly along said
curve, along said City boundary, and along said Easterly right of
way line, through a central angle of 10° 03' 58", an arc distance
of 1,978.09 feet, more or less, to a tangent line; thence South
9° 19' 01" West along said City boundary and along said Easterly
right of way line, 1296.00 feet, to the beginning of a tangent
curve concsve Northwesterly and having a radius of 23,118.23 feet;
thence Southwesterly along said curve, along said City boundary, and
along said Easterly right of way line, through a central angle of
4° 53~ 42" an arc distance of 1,975.09 feet, more or less, to a
point on a non-tangent line; thence South 16° 52' 55" West along
said City boundary and along said Easterly right of way line, a
distance of 1,008.41 feet to an angle point; thence departing
from said existing City boundary and from said Easterly right of
way line, North 73° 17' 17" West 350.00 feet to said Westerly
right of way line of the former Newbert Protection District Channel
for the Santa Ana River to an angle point; thence North 14° 01' 06"
East 202.06 feet, more or less, along said Westerly right of way
line to said Southeast corner of the "Harbor and Edinger N.E. Annex"
and to the point of beginning.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That "SANTA ANA RIVER SOUTH OF FIFTH
STREET ANNEX" is hereby designated asan appropriate name by which
said territory shall be known for the purpose of this annexation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That notice is hereby given that
August 15, 1966, at the hour of 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers,
City Hall, Third and Main Streets, Santa Ana, California, is the time
and place fixed at which said Council will hear written protests
against this annexation made by any person owning property within
said territory. At any time prior to the final adjournment of the
hearing on protests any owner of property within the territory may
file written protest against this annexation. The protest shall
state the name of the owner of the property affected and the street
address or other description of the property sufficient to identify
it on the last equalized assessment roll, all as provided for in
California Goverr~ent Code Section 35312.
