PLANNING COMMISSION AND GRANTING A VARIANCE ON
VARIANCE APPLICATION 66-35 FILED BY GEORGE L. TANEY,
SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS
WHEREAS, after hearing on notice, the Planning Cc~unission
DENIED a variance on Variance Application 66-35, filed by GEORGE
L. TANEY, and Appeal Application No. 178 was duly filed by the
applicant presenting the matter to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, after public hearing on notice,
has determined that said variance meets the requirements of
Section 9250.8 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code; that the decision
of the Planning Conunission should be overruled; and that Variance
66-35 should be granted subject to certain applicable conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED= That the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana does hereby overrule the decision of the Planning
Commission and does hereby grant a variance on Variance Application
66-35, filed by GEORGE L. TANEY, to permit the establishment of an
automotive safety service center at 802 North Flower Street, Santa
Ana, California, in an R-3B District. Said Variance is granted
subject to the following conditions:
That elevations or renderings be submitted to and approved by
the Planning Department; said elevations and/or renderings
shall show in detail the proposed building remodeling.
That a site development plan be submitted to and approved by the
Planning Department; said plan shall incorporate and/or
provide vehicular access and circulation, landscaping, walls,
signs and any other site controls considered necessary for the
preservation of the CD District.

That development be according to the approved plans and renderings;
except for minor modifications approved by the Planning
Department.
That this Variance be reviewed by the Planning COnUuission at
three (3) year periods and at that t/me the Commission reserve
the right to rec~Lend voiding the original grant if it so
chooses.
5. That there be no dismantled or inoperable vehicles stored on the
premises.
6. That all mechanical work be conducted within an enclosed building.
That there be no storage of%~hicles, trucks, trailers, or any
equipment or products stored or sold on the property except
as stated in the application.
8. That there be no retail sales except for those products installed
on the vehicles.
9. That loud speakers or microphones shall not be used on the
premises for advertising and/or pro~otional purposes.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 5th day of July, 1966.
