HomeMy WebLinkAbout66-145RESOLUTION 66-145 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA SUPPORTING LOCAL CONTROL OF
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSING
WHEREAS, the Assembly Committee on Governmental Organization
is studying the broad problem of the present state provisions
relating to alcoholic beverages; and
WHEREAS, it is becoming increasingly more apparent that the
present provisions, as presently administered, cannot possibly take
into account many of the strictly local problems involved in
licensing particular persons and locations; and
WHEREAS, in the event of a revision of the laws relating to
liquor control, it would be highly beneficial to local authorities
to be permitted a greater role in the licensing aspects thereof;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of
the City of Santa Aha recommends to the Assembly Committee on
Governmental Organization that, in its deliberations and subsequent
recommendations to the Assembly, it seriously consider the investing
in local municipal authorities a greater discretionary role upon the
question of locations and persons to which and to whom licenses for
the sale of alcoholic beverages shall be granted or transferred; and
that local municipal authorities not be preempted from passing and
enforcing legislation augmenting or supplementing, as local needs
appear, the State provisions.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 7th day of November, 1966.
