HomeMy WebLinkAbout66-145RESOLUTION 66-145 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA SUPPORTING LOCAL CONTROL OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSING WHEREAS, the Assembly Committee on Governmental Organization is studying the broad problem of the present state provisions relating to alcoholic beverages; and WHEREAS, it is becoming increasingly more apparent that the present provisions, as presently administered, cannot possibly take into account many of the strictly local problems involved in licensing particular persons and locations; and WHEREAS, in the event of a revision of the laws relating to liquor control, it would be highly beneficial to local authorities to be permitted a greater role in the licensing aspects thereof; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Santa Aha recommends to the Assembly Committee on Governmental Organization that, in its deliberations and subsequent recommendations to the Assembly, it seriously consider the investing in local municipal authorities a greater discretionary role upon the question of locations and persons to which and to whom licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages shall be granted or transferred; and that local municipal authorities not be preempted from passing and enforcing legislation augmenting or supplementing, as local needs appear, the State provisions.
