HomeMy WebLinkAbout67-062RESOLUTION 67-62 URGING THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION TO APPROVE A REGULARLY SCHEDULED AIRLINE SERVICE FROM ORANGE COUNTY AIRPORT TO SACRAMENTO VIA SAN FRANCISCO WHEREAS, Orange County has become a major metropolitan area and the fastest growing county in the United States, being now the second most populous county in California; and WHEREAS, because of its tremendous rate of industrial and commercial growth and recognizing the continuing importance of Sacramento activity to business and to local governmental agencies, particularly now that the legislature meets annually; and WHEREAS, Orange County citizens have invested a great deal of money to expand the Orange County airport and to provide the necessary facilities for medium and short range c~ercial flights; and WHEREAS, because of the problems of over-crowded conditions at International Airport, Los Angeles, and because the time required to drive to International Airport is greater than that required to fly to Sacramento; and WHEREAS, it is felt highly desirable to bring much needed service and financial return to the taxpayers of Orange County; and WHEREAS, we strongly support the free enterprise competitive system, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That we urge the Public Utilities Commission to grant the application to provide a schedule frem Orange County Airport to Sacramento via San Francisco; and we urge approval of this flight schedule as soon as possible for the benefit of businessmen and other citizens of Orange County.
