HomeMy WebLinkAbout67-070RESOLUTION NO. 67-70 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO PROPOSED ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 1419: ACCESSIBILITY OF PUBLIC BUILDINGSFORHANDICAPPED PERSONS WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana has become aware of the nature and content of Assembly Bill No. 1419; and WHEREAS, although the Council is sympathetic to the objective of this Bill which is to eliminate architectural barriers of access to public buildings for the physically handicapped; and WHEREAS, the Council believes that the proposed measure which would impose mandatory state standards upon all local governments would result in excessive construction costs and delays; and WHEREAS, the Council believes that the access problems of the handicapped can be handled more effectively and more economically at the local level where municipal officials are more aware of and responsive to local needs and conditions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: the City of Santa Ana hereby expresses Bill No. 1419. That the City Council of its opposition to Assembly PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa kna at its regular meeting held on the 15th day of May, 1967.
