INTENTION TO VACATE EXCESS RIGHTS OF WAY ON
THE SOUTH SIDE OF FIRST STREET BETWEEN DAISY
AND MAIN STREETS AND GIVING NOTICE OF HEARING
THEREON
WHEREAS, because of the realignment of First Street, certain
rights of way along the south side of First Street are no longer
necessary for present or prospective street purposes, and the
Planning Commission and Department of Public Works of the City of
Santa Aha have recommended that a public hearing be set on said
street vacation; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana hereby approves the maps attached hereto and orders
the same filed with the original of this Resolution in the office of
the Clerk of the Council, and reference is hereby made to said map
for the exterior boundaries of said rights of way proposed to be
vacated;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: ~hat the City Council declares its
intention to proceed under the provisions of the Street Vacation Act
of 1941 (Sections 8300 through 8374 of the California Streets and
Highways Code) to vacate those portions of excess rights of way on
the south side of First Street, between Daisy and Main Streets, in
the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange, State of California, described
as follows:
Parcel 1:
The North 12 feet of the following described property:
The East 200 feet of Lot One of Tract No. 905 as shown on a
map recorded in Book 32, Page 16, of Miscellaneous Maps,
Records of Orange County, California; P~ESERVING THEREFROM a
spandrel shaped parcel of land bounded on the North by the
North line of said Lot 1; bounded on the East by the East
line of said Lot 1; and bounded Southwesterly by a curve
concave Southwesterly, having a radius of 25 feet and tangent
to said North and East boundaries.
Parcel
That portion of the Northeast quarter of Section 14, Township
5 South, Range 10 West, in the Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana,
described as follows: Commencing at the Northeast corner of
said Section 14, being the intersection of the center lines
of First Street and Bristol Street, as shown on a map of
Tract No. 2678, recorded in Book 83, Pages 12 and 13 of
Miscellaneous Maps, records of Orange County, California;
thence South 89~ 32' 15" West 909.00 feet along said center
line of First Street; thence South 0° 13' 00" East 30.00 feet
to the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING; thence South 89° 32' 15" West
48.95 feet to a line parallel with and distant Easterly 30.00
feet, measured at right angles, from the center line of Pacific
Avenue, as shown on said map; thence South 0" 15' 37" East
36.91 feet along said parallel line to the beginning of a
tangent curve concave Southeasterly having a radius of 25.00
feet; thence Northeasterly along said curve through a central
angle of 89~ 47' 52" a distance of 39.18 feet; thence North
89v 32' 15" East 24.03 feet; thence North 0~ 13' 00" West
12.00 feet to the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING; P~ESERVING THEREFROM
a spandrel shaped parcel of land bounded on the North by a
line parallel with and 30 feet southerly measured at right
angles from the center line of First Street; bounded westerly
by a line parallel with and 30 feet westerly measured at right
angles from the center line of Pacific Avenue; and bounded
Southeasterly by the arc of a curve concave Southeasterly,
having a radius of 25 feet and tangent to said North and West
boundaries.
Parcel
That parcel of land lying northerly of a line that is parallel
with and 35 feet southerly measured at right angles from the
center line of First Street described as follows:
A parcel of land in the City of Santa Aha located at the South-
west corner of First Street and Flower Street and more
particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the West line of Flower Street as
deeded to the City of Santa Ana by deed recorded in Deed Book
222, Page 152, 119.98 feet South of the North line of Lot 1,
Block "P", Heil Tract, as recorded in Book 23, Page 28, Miscel-
laneous Records of Los Angeles County, said point being the
beginning of a curve concave to the Southwest with a central
angle of 12° 09' 17" and a radius of 470 feet; thence Northerly
and Westerly along the arc of said curve a distance of 99.69
feet to a point of compound curvature which is the beginning
of a curve concave to the Southwest, with a central angle of
78° 17' 33" and a radius of 20 feet; thence Northerly and
Westerly along the arc of the said 20~foot radius curve a
distance of 27.32 feet to its point of tangency with a line
which is parallel to and 5 feet Southerly from the North line
of Lots 1 and 2 of the said Block "P" in the Heil Tract; thence
Westerly parallel to and 5 feet Southerly from the said North
line of Lots 1 and 2 to the West line of the said Lot 2; thence
Northerly along the West line of Lot 2 to the Northwest corner
thereof; thence Easterly along the North line of Lots 2 and 1,
which is also the South line of First Street, to the West line
of Flower Street as described above; thence Southerly along
the West line of Flower Street to the point of beginning;
RESERVING THEREFROM the spandrel shaped parcel of land bounded
on the North by a line that is parallel with and 30 feet
Southerly measured at right angles from the center line of
First Street; bounded on the East by a line that is parallel
with and 40 feet Westerly measured at right angles from the
construction center line of Flower Street; and bounded
Southwesterly by the arc of a curve concave Southwesterly,
having a radius of 25 feet and tangent to said Northerly and
Easterly boundaries.
Parcel 4:
Those portions of Lot 1 of Sepulveda Tract, in the City of
Santa Ana, County of Orange, State of California, as per map
recorded in Book 31, Page 197 of Deeds, in the office of the
County Recorder of said County, lying Southerly of a line that
is parallel with and 30 feet Southerly measured at right angles
from the center line of First Street described as follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the Northerly line
of the land described in deed to Continental Baking Co. recorded
on September 15, 1955, in Book 3209, Page 491 of Official Reco~
of said County, with a line that is parallel with and distant
Westerly 30.00 feet, measured at right angles, from the Northerly
prolongation of the center line of Pacific Avenue, as shown
on the Map of Tract No. 1905, recorded in Book 64, pages 21
and 22 of Miscellaneous Maps, in the office of the County
Recorder of said County; thence along said parallel line,
South 0° 16' 46" East, 67.08 feet to the beginning of a tangent
curve concave to the Southwest and having a radius of 25.00
feet; thence Northwesterly along said curve, 39.35 feet to a
point in a tangent line that is parallel with and distant
Southerly 42.00 feet, measured at right angles, from the
Northerly line of said land described in Book 3209, Page 491
of Official Records; thence along said parallel line, South
89" 32' 15" West, 158.64 feet more or less, to a point in the

Westerly line of said land; thence along said Westerly line,
North 0v 28' 53" West, 42.00 feet to the Northwest corner
thereof; thence along the Northerly line of said land, North
89° 32' 15" East, 183.77 feet, more or less, to the point of
beginning; RESERVING THEREFROM a spandrel shaped parcel of
land bounded on the North by a line that is parallel with and
30 feet southerly, measured at right angles from the center
line of First Street; bounded on the East by a line that is
parallel with and 30 feet westerly measured at right angles
from the center line of Pacific Avenue; and bounded South-
westerly by the arc of a curve concave Southwesterly, having
a radius of 25. feet and tangent to said Northerly and
Easterly boundaries.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That June 17, 1968, at the hour of
7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Third and Main Streets,
Santa Ana, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place for
hearing all persons interested in or objecting to said proposed
vacation of rights of way.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Clerk of the Council of the
City of Santa Ana is hereby ordered to publish this Resolution one
time in the Register, and the Director of Public Works is ordered
to post notices of vacation of rights of way conspicuously along the
line of said street, stating the passage of this Resolution of
Intention to vacate and the time and the place of hearing thereon.
Said notices shall be posted not more than 300 feet apart and at least
three (3) such notices shall be posted for each right of way being
vacated. Both publication and posting shall be completed at least
ten (10) days before the date of hearing.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 20th day of May, 1968.
