EAS~ENTS FOR STREET PURPOSES ON THE SOUTHWEST
CORNER OF SEVENTEENTH ~NR FLOWER STREETS
WHEREAS, in order to provide for a more orderly flow of
traffic on Seventeenth Street in the City of Santa Ana it has
become necessary to widen and improve the southwest corner of
Seventeenth and Flower Streets;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana does hereby find and declare that the public
interest and necessity require that the southwest corner of
Seventeenth and Flower Streets be widened and improved to provide
for a more orderly flow of traffic, and further require that said
City do have, take, and acquire for street purposes that certain
real property in the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange, State of
california, described as:
Those portions of Section 12, Township 5 South, Range 10
West in the land allotted to Jacob Ross in decree of
partition of the Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana, recorded
in Book "B", Page 410 of Judgments of the District Court
of the 17th Judicial District of Los Angeles County,
California described as follows:
Parcel 1.
Beginning at a point West 2,687.52 feet from the North-
east corner of said Section 12, said point being the
center line intersection of Seventeenth Street and Flower
Street, as said intersection is shown on a map filed in
Book 7, Page 14 of Records of Surveys in the office of
the County Recorder of Orange County, California; thence
South 0° 15' 00" West along said center line of Flower
Street to a point on a line that is parallel with and
distant 52.00 feet Southerly, measured at right angles,
from said center line of Seventeenth Street; thence West
along said parallel line a distance of 340.56 feet;
thence North 0° 15' 00" East a distance of 52.00 feet to
said center line of Seventeenth Street; thence East 340.56
feet along said center line to the point of beginning.
Excepting the Northerly 40.00 feet.
Also excepting the Easterly 30.00 feet.
Parcel 2.
Beginning at a point West 2,687.52 feet from the North-
east corner of said Section 12, said point being the
center line intersection of Seventeenth Street and Flower
Street, as said intersection is shown on a map filed in
Book 7, Page 14 of Records of Surveys in the office of
the County Recorder of Orange County, California; thence
South 0° 15' 00" West along said center line of Flower
Street a distance of 77.28 feet; thence at right angles
to said center line of Flower Street North 89° 45' 00"
West a distance of 40.00 feet; thence North 0° 15' 00"
East a distance of 77.11 feet to said center line of
Seventeenth Street; thence East 40.00 feet to the point
of beginning.
Excepting the Northerly 52.00 feet.
Also excepting the Easterly 30.00 feet.

A spandrel shaped parcel of land bounded Northerly by
the Southerly line of Parcel 1 above described, bounded
Easterly by the Westerly line of Parcel 2 above described;
and bounded Southwesterly by the arc of a curve concave
Southwesterly having a radius of 25.00 feet and tangent
to said Northerly and Easterly boundaries.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
1. That the City Attorney is hereby ordered to bring an
action in the name of the City of Santa Ana to condemn said property
necessary to be taken and to do all things necessary to prosecute
said action to final determination;
2. That the public interest, necessity, and convenience
require, and it is hereby ordered, that said City take immediate
possession and use of the property herein ordered to be acquired
upon compliance with the requirements of law applicable thereto
as a right of way for public use;
3. That said public improvement is planned and located in
a manner which will be most compatible with the greatest public
good and the least private injury.
4. That the city of Santa Ana, a municipal corporation, is
authorized and empowered to provide for the opening, extension,
widening, construction and maintenance of public streets and high-
ways within the City; and
5. That said action in condemnation shall be taken in
accordance with the provisions of the Code of Civil Procedure and
the Constitution of the State of California relating to eminent
domain.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 18th day of August, 1969.
