TO BE ORANGE COUNTY'S FIRST CITIZEN OF THE CENTURY
WHEREAS, RICHARD M. NIXON, thirty-seventh President of the
United States of America, was born in the City of Yorba Linda,
Orange County, California; and
WHEREAS, he and the family into which he was born are
representative of the finest in the American tradition of religious
faith, love of country, industry, and independence; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD M. NIXON's educational career, at both
Whittier college and Duke University Law School, is an example of
true academic excellence; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD M. NIXON distinguished himself by honorable
service in the armed forces of his country; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD M. NIXON's career as lawyer, United States
Congressman, United States Senator, Vice President and President
of the United States has been marked throughout by meritorious
conduct in the service of his country and intense personal conviction
as to the worth of the American ideal; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD M. NIXON has, by his words and deeds,
demonstrated an unwavering determination to preserve the system
of individual liberties upon which this Republic was founded;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the city Council of
the City of Santa Ana, California, in recognition of his many
outstanding qualities, names and proclaims RICHARD M. NIXON to be
"ORANGE COUNTY'S FIRST CITIZEN OF THE CENTURY".
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 15th day of September, 1969.
