HomeMy WebLinkAbout70-023RESOLUTION 70-23 SPECIAL RESOLUTION WHEREAS, one of Orange County's own, James B. Utt, a member of Congress of the United States of America, has been called to his reward at the age of 70 years; and WHEREAS, for nearly eighteen years Congressman Utt served in the House of iRepresentatives, expressing his views without compromise, and acting in a truly representative capacity for the citizens of his 35th District; and WHEREAS, Congressman Utt devoted a great portion of his life to service to others, at both the State and Federal levels, applying his legal talents to that enterprise; and WHEREAS, the Congressman's integrity and fidelity were never heard drawn in question, as befits a public servant; and WHEREAS, in all regards, his efforts were directed toward the betterment of his beloved Orange County, earning him the respect and gratitude of his fellow local residents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1. That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, for itself and for the citizens it represents, expresses its profound feeling of great loss at the passing of James B. Utt, United States Congressman for the 35th District; 2. That the City Council extends its sympathies to Mrs. Utt, Charlena, and to their son, James, at this moment of their great loss; 3. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, John W. McCormack, in order that that great body may be made aware of the devotion felt for the late "Jimmy" Utt by those persons whom he represented so faithfully. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, California, at its regular meeting held on the 2nd day of March, 1970.
