AN AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BOARD OF
ADMINISTRATION OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT
SYSTEM AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
WHEREAS, the Public Employees' Retirement Law permits the
participation of public agencies and their employees in the Public
Employees' Retirement System by the execution of a contract, and
sets forth the procedure by which said public agencies may elect
to subject themselves and their employees to amendments to said
law; and
WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedure to amend this
contract is the adoption by the legislative body of the public agency
of a resolution giving notice of its intention to approve an amend-
ment to said contract, which resolution shall contain a summary of
the changes proposed in said contract; and
WHEREAS, the following is a statement of the proposed change:
1. Retirement allowances payable for time commencing on
the first day of the calendar month coinciding with or next following
the effective date of this amendment to or on account of any person
whose retirement became effective on or prior to December 31, 1966
are hereby increased according to a sliding scale ranging from two
percent for those whose retirement became effective during the
twelve months ending December 31, 1966, to a maximum of twelve
percent for those whose retirement became effective prior to
January 1, 1962.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana gives, and it hereby gives notice of intention to
approve an amendment to the contract between the City Council and
the Board of Administration of the Public Employees' Retirement
System, a copy of said amendment being attached hereto, marked
"Exhibit A" and by this reference made a part hereof.

AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION
PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM AND THE
CITY COUNCIL
OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA
The Board of Administration, Public Employees' Retirement
System, hereinafter referred to as BOARD, and the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana, hereinafter referred to as PUBLIC AGENCY,
having entered into a contract under date of November 25, 1946,
effective July l, 1947, and as amended effective October 1, 1951,
January 1, 1954, September 1, 1956, July 1, 1959, November 1, 1960,
September 1, 1963, April 1, 1964, February 1, 1965, and January 16,
1969, which provides for participation of Public Agency in said
System, Board and Public Agency hereby agree as follows:
A. The following subparagraphs shall be added to said Contract:
8 (n)
Section 21251.75 of the Government Code (providing for
increases in allowances payable for time commencing on
the first day of the calendar month coinciding with or
next following the effective date of this amendment to
persons retired prior to January 1, 1967).
B. Paragraphs 9 (a) and 9 (b) shall be stricken from said Contract
and the following paragraphs substituted therefor:
7 (a)
With respect to miscellaneous members, the public agency
shall contribute the following percentages of monthly
salaries earned as miscellaneous members of said System:
(1)
2.074 percent until June 30, 1977 on account of the
liability for prior service benefits.
(2) 6.690 percent on account of the liability for
current service benefits.
7 (b)
With respect to local safety members, the public agency
shall contribute the following percentages of monthly
salaries earned as local safety members of said System:
(1)
1.830 percent until June 30, 1977 on account of
the liability for prior service benefits.
(2) 9.650 percent on account of the liability for
current service benefits.
C. This amendment shall be attached to said Contract and shall become
effective on the day of , 1970.
