OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA,
REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF
THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO CONSOLIDATE A
SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA TO BE HW-LD ON NOVEMBER 3,
1970, WITH TTL~ STATEWIDTM 6E~EAL ~.LSCTION
TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 3, 1970 PURSUANT
TO SECTION 23302 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana has
called a special municipal election in the city of Santa Ana to be
held on November 3, 1970, for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified voters of the city of Santa Ana propositions for the
amendment of the Santa Ana City Charter as hereinafter in this
Resolution set forth; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable that said special municipal
election be consolidated with the statewide general election to
be held on the same date and that within the City of Santa Aha
the precincts, polling places and election officers of the two
elections be the same, and that the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Orange canvass the returns of the special municipal
election and that said statewide general election and special
municipal election be held in all respects as if there were only
one election;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
ANA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section
23302 of the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Orange be and it hereby is requested to consent and agree to
the consolidation of a special municipal election with the state-
wide general election on Tuesday, the 3rd day of November, 1970,
for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Santa
Ana propositions to appear on the ballot, as follows:
Shall Article IV of the Charter of the City
of Santa Aha be amended to increase the
compensation paid to city councilmen from
$125.00 per month to $400.00 per month, and :
the additional salary of the mayor be in- :
creased from the present $75.00 per month :
to $400 per month, said increase to be :
effective only as to the successors to those :
councilmen and mayor now in office? :

Shall Article IX of the Charter of the City
of Santa Ana be amended to permit the
Personnel Board to meet monthly only in the
event there is business on its agenda, but
in no event to meet less often than
quarterly?

Section 2. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized
to canvass the returns of said special municipal election which it
is hereby requested to consolidate with said statewide general
election and said election shall be held on all respects as if there
were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used.
Section 3. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to
issue instructions to the County Clerk of Orange County to take any
and all steps necessary for the holding of said consolidated election.
Section 4. The City of Santa Ana recognizes that additional
costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation
and agrees to reimburse the County for any such costs.
Section 5. That the Clerk of the Council of the City of
Santa Aha is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this
Resolution with the Board of Supervisors and the County Clerk of
the County of Orange.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 3rd day of August, 1970.
