RESOLUTIO.~ NO, 71 - 1971
A SPECIAL RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA COMMENDING
MASTER KEVIN AMES FOR AN ACT OF HEROISM
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of this City Council
that on February 23, 1971, Master Kevin Ames, age 14, of
1143 South Parton Street, Santa Ana, California, upon discovering
smoke coming from a dwelling at 1138 South Garnsey Street,
Santa Ana, attempted to arouse the occupants. Unable to do so,
he sought the aid of a neigt~bor, who called the Fire Department.
Kevin then ran to the burning house and gained entry.
Through the smoked-filled house he found his way to the front
door and opened it to the neighbor. Together they found the
occupant, Mr. Jerry Hessen, lying on the floor next to a
burning sofa and quickly removed the sofa from the room. With
the aid of the Fire Department, the life of the occupant was
saved and the dwelling was spared serious fire loss.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana, individually, collectively, and in a
representative capacity for the citizens of the City of Santa Ana,
