HomeMy WebLinkAbout71-028RESOLUTION 71-28 DECLARING THE ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY DESIGNATED "SUNFLOWER AND BEAR ANNEXATION" TO THE CITY OF SANTA ANA WHEREAS, the Local Agency Formation Commission of Orange County has approved a description of territory hereinbelow contained and annexation of said territory to the City of Santa Ana, California; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the requirements of Government Code Section 54797.1, the Local Agency Formation Commission of Orange County has approved the within annexation and has authorized the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, California, to annex said territory without notice and hearing by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, California, hereby finds and declares that said territory was uninhabited at the time of the adoption of this Resolution, and is contiguous to the City of Santa; and that said territory shall not be taxed to pay any indebtedness of the City existing at the time of this annexation; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That all of the territory in the County of Orange, State of California, described as: Beginning at an angle point in the existing boundary line of the City of Santa Ana per Resolution NO. 66-1341, said point being in a line that is parallel with and 25.00 feet Easterly, measured at right angles, from the center line of Bear Street and distant 12.00 feet Northerl~ from the center line of Sunflower Avenue; thence North 0 48'30" West, 13.00 feet along said parallel line, and along said City boundary line, to an angle point in the boundary line of said City per Ordinance No. NS-450; thence North 0o48'30'' West, 784.46 feet along said City boundary line per Ordinance No. NS-450, to an angle point in said City boundary line, said angle point being on a line parallel with and 25.00 feet Northerly, measured at right angles, from the easterly prolongation of Avenue (formerly Wakeham West 1,545.87 feet along Ordinance No. NS-450 and the center line of Sunflswer Avenue); thence South 88 55'50" said City boundary line per along said last mentioned parallel line to a point on a non-tangent curve concave Southwesterly, having a radius of 1,040.00 feet, the r~dial line to said curve at said point bears North 8v40'25" East; thence leaving the existing boundary of the City of Santa Ana, Southeasterly along said curve through a central angle of 6-11'58", an arc distance of 112.53 feet, to a point on the center line of said Sun- flower Avenue; thence North 88055'50'' East along said center line of Sunflower Avenue a distance of 1,411.10 feet to the intersection of center lines of said Sun- flower Avenue with said Bear Street; thence South 0°48'30" East 772.30 feet along said center line of Bear Street to a point on a line which is parallel with and 12.00 feet Northerly, measured at right angles, from the center line of Sunflower Avenue as ~aid Avenue exists East of Bear Street; thence North 89 17'10" East along last mentioned parallel line a distance of 25.00 feet to the point of beginning, be and the same is hereby annexed to the City of Santa Ana and to Ward Number 4 in said City, and said Annexation is by this Resolution effected and declared. For the purpose of tax segregation of this territory, the designation that applies is the "Santa Ana City - 1957-1958 Annexes." BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That in accordance with Government Code Section 35318 the annexed territory will become a part of the City of Santa Ana from the date of filing by the Secretary of State. The Clerk of the Council of the City of Santa Ana shall, without delay, transmit to the Secretary of State a certified copy of this Resolution. PRoPos~ SUNFI_OWER AND BEA'R ANNEX' TO THE CITY OF SANTA ANA RESOLUTIO.~ NO, 71 - 1971 A SPECIAL RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA COMMENDING MASTER KEVIN AMES FOR AN ACT OF HEROISM WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of this City Council that on February 23, 1971, Master Kevin Ames, age 14, of 1143 South Parton Street, Santa Ana, California, upon discovering smoke coming from a dwelling at 1138 South Garnsey Street, Santa Ana, attempted to arouse the occupants. Unable to do so, he sought the aid of a neigt~bor, who called the Fire Department. Kevin then ran to the burning house and gained entry. Through the smoked-filled house he found his way to the front door and opened it to the neighbor. Together they found the occupant, Mr. Jerry Hessen, lying on the floor next to a burning sofa and quickly removed the sofa from the room. With the aid of the Fire Department, the life of the occupant was saved and the dwelling was spared serious fire loss. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, individually, collectively, and in a representative capacity for the citizens of the City of Santa Ana, commend MASTER KEVIN AMES for his actions on February 23, 1971, to wit: gaining entrance to the burning building and aiding in the rescue of the occupant, thereby saving his life; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That acknowledgment and appreci- ation be proclaimed for this unselfish act which resulted in the saving of a life notwithstanding the apparent danger to his own.
