A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA APPROVING APPLICATION FOR GRANT
DISCRETIONARY FUNDS TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF
JUSTICE TO CREATE A JUVENILE DELIQUENCY PRE-
VENTION AND ENFORCEMENT UNIT, AND AUTHORIZING
THE CHIEF OF POLICE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
TO SIGN AND DELIVER THE APPLICATION.
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana an Application for Grant Discretionary Funds to
the U.S. Department of Justice, Law Enforcement Assistance Admin-
istration (LEAA), on a proposed project to create a Juvenile De-
linquency Prevention and Enforcement Unit which will reduce,
repress, and prevent crimes involving juveniles, control the
criminal activities of youth gangs, increase apprehension of
juvenile offenders, increase relationships between school offi-
cials, parents, and the police, discourage youths from joining
and participating in gang activities, and combine the efforts of
the Santa Ana Police Department and Juvenile Probation.
WHEREAS, it appears proper and to the best interests of the
county that said application for a grant be filed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA:
1. That the Chief of Police of the City of Santa Ana be,
and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute subject ap-
plication.
2. That the Chief of Police of the City of Santa Ana be,
and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit subject ap-
plication to the U.S. Department of Justice, Law Enforcement
Assistance Administration (LEAA), for approval.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Santa Ana at its adjourned regular meeting held on the
25 day of 3une , 1973.
