A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA ACCEPTING A GRANT OF AN OPEN SPACE
EASEMENT FROM THE CITY OF GARDEN GROVE PURSUANT
TO SECTION 51055 OF THE CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT
CODE
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana and the City of Garden
Grove are prepared to enter into an agreement concerning
that certain property within Santa Ana known as the Willo-
wick Golf Course, three {3) parcels adjacent to the golf
course which Santa Ana wishes to acquire and develop for
park and recreational purposes, and other related matters;
and
WHEREAS, Garden Grove, as part of the aforementioned
agreement, offers to qrant to Santa Ana an open space ease-
ment for a term of twenty-five (25) years over the Willowick
Golf Course; and
WHEREAS, the preservation of the open space character
of the Willowick Golf Course, when combined with the deve-
lopment of the three [3) parcels to be acquired by Santa
Ana together with adjacent parcels already owned by Santa
Ana into a public park, will promote the public interest
in scenic and recreational open space; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Santa
Ana has determined that the acquisition of an open space ease-
ment over the golf course and of title to the three
adjacent parcels for park and recreational development are
in conformity with the City's general plan,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council
finds as follows:
1. The preservation of the Willowick Golf Course as
open space and the acquisition of three (3) adjacent par-,
cels for development and use for park and recreational pur-
poses are consistent with the general plan of the City of
Santa Ana.
2. The preservation of the Willowick Golf Course as
open space and development and use of the adjacent parcels
for park and recreational purposes are important to the
public for enjoyment of scenic beauty, in that:
(a)
the land is unimproved except as park and golf
course property and has scenic value as viewed
from public highways and from public and private
buildings, and
(b)
the retention of the land as open space will
to the amenities of living in adjoining and
neighboring urbanized areas, and
add
(c)
the public interest will be served by maintaining
recreational and park uses in that portion of
the City of Santa Ana.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That, contingent upon the
execution by the City of Garden Grove prior to March 1,
1974, of an agreement with the City of Santa Ana providing
,for the Grant of Open Space Easement, conveyance of title to,
the three (3) adjacent parcels, and other related matters,
.the City Council of the City of Santa Ana does hereby
accept the proposed Grant of Open Space Easement and dir-
ects the Clerk of the Council to endorse this acceptance
on said easement and to record the executed easement,
agreement and this Resolution with the Orange County Recor-
der prior to March l, 1974.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Santa Ana at its adjounned regular meeting held on the
25 day of February , 1974.
