HomeMy WebLinkAbout74-097RESOLUTION NO. 74-97 A RESOLUTION OF THE SANTA ANA CITY COUNCIL EXPRESSING ITS DESIRE TO APPLY FOR AND OPERATE A SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM AS A SUB-AGENT TO THE EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT, STATE OF CALIFORNIA youth in the City of Santa Ama are in need of meaningful employment which will also provide financial assistance during the s,,mmer months; and there are numerous non-profit organizations willing and able to provide supervision and work experience for these youth who are residents of the City of Santa Ana; and WHEREAS, the Employment Development Department has certain monies available under the Public Employment Program (PEP) which may be used for s-~mer youth employment programs; and the Employment Development Department of the State of California wishes to enter into an agreement with the City of Santa Aha to provide $40,000.00 of PEP funds to the City for the operation of a S,,mmer Youth Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Santa Aha does hereby recognize the special need of jobs for youth in the City and does hereby authorize the Mayor to accept on behalf of the City $40,000.00 from the California State Employment Development Depart- merit to operate a PEP S,,mmer Youth Program. day of THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me this June , 1974. 17th MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ATTEST: STATE OF CALIFORNIA ) COUNTY OF ORANGE ) ss. The Program Agent shall have all the rights of the Secretary of Labor as provided in Exl~ibit 1 with regard to .the administra- tion of the ~ Program and performance pursuant to this agreement. ~. This-agreement is subject ko Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 196~, and the regulations issued under that Title. Any service, financial and/or other benefits provided under this agreement shall be provided without discrimination because of race, colo~ or national origin, i 11. The Sub-Agent shall comply with the Presidential Executive Order No. dated Augdst 15, 1971, or any subsequent Order modifying, amending, terminating, or substituting for said Order, and all guidelines, rules, and regulations of the Cost of Living Council, Pay Board, and Price Commission implementing such orders. · Ae Sub-Agent war~ants that no wages, prices or salaries to be paid under this agreement will be in excess of the maximum legally allowable pursuant to the foregoing Order, rules, and regulations. 13.
