A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA PROHIBITING THE ISSUANCE OF
BUILDING PERMITS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF OFF-
PREMISE SIGNS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA FOR A NINETY DAY PERIOD
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Aha has
initiated proceedings to amend the Santa Ana Municipal Code
to provide for a conditional use permit requirement for the
construction of off-premise advertising signs and enacted a
moratorium on the issuance of building permits for such signs
in order to preserve the status quo during the pendency of
such proceedings; and
WHEREAS, the said moratorium is due to expire upon July
3, 1974, but consideration of the proposed code amendments
has been postponed until after such date due in part to
requests for continuance by sign company representatives; and
WHEREAS, the necessity to preserve the status quo pending
decision on the said code amendments by the City Council con-
tinues to exist to the same extent as at the time that the
original moratorium was initiated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Department of
Building Safety of the City of Santa Ana shall not issue any
permits for the construction of any sign or billboard designed
to advertise a product, event, person, or subject not related`
to the lot upon which such sign is located for a period to
terminate upon the effective date of the amending ordinance
requiring that such construction be allowed only with the
approval of a conditional use permit or for a period of ninety
(90) days from the initial effective date of this ordinance,
whichever occurs first.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Aha at its regular meeting held on the 1st day of
July , 1974.
