IN LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL CONFERENCES
AND FUNCTIONS PERTAINING TO MUNICIPAL
AFFAIRS AS REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CITY'S
INTERESTS
WHEREAS, from time to time conferences, meetings, seminars,
workshops and similar functions are conducted by organizations
involved in promoting the interests of local governmental effi-
ciency, for the purpose of providing invaluable exchanges of
information among leaders of local, state and national govern-
ment; and
WHEREAS, it is in the continuing interest of the citizens
of Santa Ana that their Mayor and Councilmen avail themselves
of the opportunity to attend such functions whenever possible,
to represent the interests of the City and to remain fully in-

ministration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana that the following policy is adopted for the
purpose of encouraging and emphasizing the importance of adequate

the citizens of Santa Ana:
1. It is the duty of the Mayor, in his capacity as re-
presentative of City government, to attend each conference or
other function at which it is appropriate for the City to be
officially represented. When the Mayor is unable to attend, he
should designate a suitable substitute representative.

members of the City Council attend the local, state and national
conferences of the League of California Cities, the National
League of Cities and the United States Conference of Mayors,
whenever and wherever held.
