RESOLUTION NO. 75-77
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR A
TEAM POLICING DISCRETIONARY GRANT FROM THE
LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION
AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUmeNTS
PERTINENT THERETO
WHEREAS, the National Institute for Law Enforcement
and Criminal Justice, and organizational research arm of the
Federal Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, U.S. Depart-
ment of Justice, has selected Santa Ana as one of six cities to
participate in a national Team Policing Study; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana desires to make
application for a certain project designated as a Community
Team Policing Grant to be funded in whole from funds made
available through the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets
Act of 1968, PL 90-355, as amended, PL 91-644, and by the
Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, and to be admin-
istered by the California Council on Criminal Justice.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Santa Ana that the Chief of Police, Raymond
C. Davis of the Santa Ana Police Department, was authorized
on its behalf, to submit an application for a Community Team
Policing Grant to the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration
as recommended by the National Institute for Law Enforcement
and Criminal Justice, and is authorized to execute on behalf
of the City of Santa Ana a Community Team Policing Grant Award
Contract and any other documents including any extensions or
amendments thereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the applicant agrees to
use all non-matching discretionary funds received to implement
a Community Team Policing Program as so presented in the
application, and to cooperate and participate in the national
Team Policing Study conducted by the National Institute for
Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the discretionary grant
funds received hereunder shall not be used to supplant other
on-going law enforcement expenditures, and that this City will
provide investigative, traffic, management and any other service
at the team policing community level as an adjunct to the
Community Team Policing Grant.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 16th
day of June , 1975.
