A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
TO SPEAK ON BEHALF OF THE COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that the Mayor
of the City of Santa Ana is looked to by many persons as the
leader and spokesman of the city government; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires that the Mayor should
take an appropriate role of leadership in a manner consistent
with the Charter of the City of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is empowered by Section 404
of the Charter to impose additional non-administrative duties
upon the Mayor consistent with his office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor of the
City of Santa Ana is hereby authorized by the City Council to
speak on its behalf to the public and to the City Manager and
in so doing he is charged with the responsibility to truly re-
present the views, intentions, policies and goals of the majority
of the City Council, as he understands the same to be.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor of the City of
Santa Ana, in such capacity as spokesman for the City Council,
is hereby authorized and directed to inform the City Manager,
concerning the Council's views of the proper administration of
municipal affairs and the resolution of municipal problems in
accordance with the policies, priorities and goals of the City
Council.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the
21st day of July , 1975.
