RESOLUTION NO. 75-109
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR SB 886
(CARPENTER) RELATING TO HARMFUL AND OBSCENE
MATTER
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 886 (Carpenter) has already been
passed by the California State Senate and is presently before
the California State Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice;
and
WHEREAS, recent United States Supreme Court decisions
have contained new guidelines for the definition and prosecu-
tion of harmful and obscene matter; and
WHEREAS, said guidelines need to be enacted into
State law in order to effectively control the distribution
of harmful and obscene matter; and
WHEREAS, the definitions and procedures contained in
Senate Bill 886 closely follow the United States Supreme
Court guidelines.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA:
1. That this City Council hereby expresses strong sup-
port of SB 886 and urges its adoption.
2. That the City Clerk of the City of Santa Ana
cause copies of this resolution to be forwarded to State
Assemblyman Richard Robinson, representing this city.
