A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF SANTA ANA ESTABLISHING ANNUAL
DOG LICENSE TAXES AND A FIRST FISCAL
YEAR'S EXEMPTION FOR NEUTERED DOGS.

WHEREAS, the cost of providing animal control services in
the City to insure the public safety, health, and welfare is
increasing each year; and
WHEREAS, the County of Orange Animal Shelter provides
services to the City by contract, the cost of which has been
increased periodically; and
WHEREAS, in the interests of fairness and equity, it is
the intent of the City Council to effect a self-supporting animal
control operation insofar as may be possible;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the following annual
fees for dog licenses shall apply effective on the lst day of
July, 1975:
Animal Type
Unit Annual License Tax
Female dog (un-neutered) Each
Female dog (neutered) Each
$10.00
5.00
Male dog (un-neutered) Each 10.00
Male dog (neutered) Each 5.00; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, however, that there shall be no
license tax charged for the first fiscal year, commencing July 1,
following the fiscal year during which any dog has been caused
to be neutered; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to accept reasonable proof of neutering to
qualify for the neutered dog license tax exemptions and reduced
license taxes hereinabove specified; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution shall not
become effective until the effective date of City of Santa Ana
Ordinance No. NS 1272 , which authorized the aforedescribed
neutered dog exemption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 2nd day of
September , 1975.
