HomeMy WebLinkAbout75-165RESOLUTION NO. 75-165 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ESTABLISHING A FEE OF $50 (FIFTY DOLLARS) EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 1975, FOR EMERGENCY TRANSPOR- TATION OF PERSONS IN PARAMEDIC OR OTHER FIRE DEPART- MENT VEHICLES TO A HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL CARE AND FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES RENDERED TO PERSONS BY PARA- MEDICS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE SANTA ANA-TUSTIN COMMUNITY HOSPITAL TO BILL AND COLLECT SUCH FEE AT THE REQUEST OF THE FINANCE DIRECTOR FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AT A CHARGE TO THE CITY OF SANTA ANA OF $3 (THREE DOLLARS) PER PATIENT TRANSPORTED ; ~D REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 75-112 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana on May 5, 1975, adopted Santa Ana City Ordinance NS-1255, effec- tive June 4, 1975, authorizing the Santa Ana City Council to adopt a resolution to establish fees and authorizing the City of Santa Ana to bill and collect fees for emergency transportation of persons in paramedic or other Santa Ana Fire Department vehicles to a hospital for medical care and for emergency services rendered to persons by paramedics; and WHEREAS, the Santa Ana-Tustin Community Hospital, a California non-profit corporation, is equipped to bill and collect aforesaid fee for the City of Santa Ana as an independent contractor at the request of the Finance Director of the City of Santa Ana, at a charge of $3 (Three Dollars) per patient transported to the City of Santa Ana, which charge is less than the cost to the City of Santa Ana to bill and collect for said transportation, medical care and emergency services; and WHEREAS, aforedescribed Ordinance NS-1255 provides that the fee for transportation of persons in paramedic or other Fire Department vehicles shall not be less than the average fee charged by commercial ambulances for comparable services in the City of Santa Ana. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana as follows: 1. That there is hereby established a $50 (Fifty Dollar) fee which shall be charged, commencing November 1, 1975, to each person who receives emergency transportation in paramedic or other City of Santa Ana Fire Department vehicles to a hospital for medical care and for emergency services rendered to persons by paramedics. 2. That it is hereby found and determined that said $50 (Fifty Dollar) fee is not less than the average fee charged by commercial ambulances for comparable services in the City of Santa Ana. That the City Manager of the City of Santa Ann is hereby authorized to execute a written contract on behalf of the City which provides that Santa Ana-Tustin Community Hospital, a California non-profit corporation, as an inde- pendent contractor, is to bill and collect at the request of the Director of Finance of the City of Santa Ann, for the benefit of the City of Santa Ann, the fee established by this Resolution, commencing November 1, 1975, at a charge to the City of no more than $3 (Three Dollars) for each billing rendered on behalf of the City of Santa Ann. 4. Resolution 75-112 of this Council, adopted on August 18, 1975, is repealed.
