A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
ANA RESTRICTING PARKING ON CERTAIN AREAS OF RAITT STREET
AND WASHINGTON AVENUE; AND REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 74-95
WHEREAS, in order to provide and maintain the maximum traffic flow upon
Raitt Street and Washington Avenue, and to permit the establishment and mainte-
nance of bicycle lanes for an increasing number of bicyclists, the full width
of said streets must be employed for traffic and bicycles in certain areas
during certain times of the day; and
WHEREAS, the maintenance of parking spaces upon said streets in said areas
during those certain times would constitute a considerable hazard to motorists
and bicyclists by reason of the necessity of closing traffic lanes to provide
such parking spaces; and
WHEREAS, the prohibition of parking between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7:00
P.M. daily on Raitt Street north of Willits Street for purposes of a bike lane
produces hardships on the affected residents and the bike lane is little used
before 7:30 A.M. or after 5:00 P.M. or on weekends or holidays;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana:
That parking is prohibited between the hours of 7:30 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. daily,
except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, on the west side of Raitt Street from
Willits Street to Camille Place, on both sides of Raitt Street from Myrtle
Street to Washington Avenue, and on both sides of Washington Avenue from Raitt
Street to College Avenue.
Resolution No. 74-95 of this Council, adopted on June 17, 1974, is hereby
repealed.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana at its
adjourned regular meeting held on the 8th ~ay of December ,1975.
