A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA HONORING
EUGENE GRISET UPON HIS 100TH
BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, EUGENE GRISET has resided in Santa Ana for 78
years, having moved to Orange County in 1898 with his mother and
three brothers to engage in the farming and dairy business; and
WHEREAS, EUGENE GRISET has been active in the spiritual
affairs of the community as a founder of the Country Church of
Talbert in 1902 and a member of the Country Church of Greenville
where he met his wife, Lula Townsend, in 1912; and
WHEREAS, EUGENE GRISET has provided guidance and inspiration
to the youth of the community, serving as an active boys leader
in the Santa Ana YMCA for 30 years until World War II; and
WHEREAS, one of the high school boys EUGENE GRISET taught
was W. Cameron Townsend who later founded the Wycliffe Bible
Translators in 1934, which is now one of the world's largest
mission organizations; and
WHEREAS, for a 30 year period during and after World War
II, EUGENE GRISET personally helped thousands of servicemen through
the Orange County Christian Service Organization which he helped
found; and
WHEREAS, EUGENE GRISET has 3 children,
and 6 great grandchildren and resides at 1532
in Santa Ana with his wife of 62 years, Lula;

WHEREAS, on the 22nd day of November, 1976, EUGENE GRISET
is celebrating his 100th birthday, a monumental landmark in a
life filled with dedication for the spiritual well being of his
fellow man.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN GARTHE, Mayor of the City of
Santa Ana, do hereby resolve that EUGENE GRISET is to be lauded,
honored and congratulated on this 100th birthday and for his work
and concern for the quality of life in the City of Santa Ana,
the County of Orange, the United States and other countries.
