HomeMy WebLinkAbout77-020EDC: rs 2-15-77 RESOLUTION NO. 77-20 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DECLARING THE MONTH OF MARCH AS BURGLARY PREVENTION MONTH WHEREAS, the Orange County Criminal Justice Council has sponsored and supervised the Crime Prevention Grant known as Burglary Prevention Through Citizen Participation, which involves a majority of Orange County cities in a concerted anti-burglary effort on a Countywide basis, utilizing police/public cooperation; and WHEREAS, the crime of burglary in Orange County rose 11% in 1975 over 1974 to a staggering 37,885 separate crimes, costing the Orange County citizens over $16 million in 1975; and WHEREAS, 2394 felony arrests were made by police agencies in Orange County in 1975 for the crime of burglary, with only 1.6% ultimately going to prison; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Criminal Justice Council adopted Resolution No. A77-1 on January 19, 1977, declaring the month of March as Burglary Prevention Month, and asks other governmental units to join in said declaration; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana is firmly committed to the protection of the law-abiding citizen, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana: that said Council hereby declares the month of March to be Burglary Prevention Month and urges all residents of the City of Santa A~a to participate actively and cooperate in preventing the crime of burglary.
