HomeMy WebLinkAbout77-034JDC: mir 3-3~77 RESOLUTION NO. 77-34 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA URGING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO PLACE THE ENTIRE CITY OF SANTA ANA WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF ONE SUPER- VISORIAL DISTRICT WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana, with a population of 181,000 is the second largest city in Orange County; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is presently divided into three supervisorial districts, and WHEREAS, the present fragmented boundary configuration is not conducive to smooth and convenient relations with the County of Orange, because no single supervisor represents the entirety of the City; and WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Santa Ana do not pre- sently all vote in the same election for the same supervisor; and WHEREAS, relations between the City of County of Orange are vital to all residents of County; Santa Ana and the the City and the NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Santa Ana requests that new supervisorial boundaries be so drawn as to include the entire City of Santa Ana within the bound- aries of one supervisorial district; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council is hereby directed to send a copy of this resolution to all members of the Orange County Board of Supervisors and to the Ad Hoc Supervisorial District Boundary Committee.
