HomeMy WebLinkAbout77-037RESOLUTION NO. 77-37 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA HONORING TED W. BARTLETT WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett has been a resident of the City of Huntington Beach for 49 years and has been active in the affairs of his community; and WHEREAS, having been elected for terms totaling 20 years since 1944, Ted W. Bartlett has served as a member of the Hunting- ton Beach City Council and has served both as Mayor and Vice-Mayor of the City of Huntington Beach; and WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett has provided guidance and inspira- tion for the youth of the community, serving as an active leader in the Orange Empire Council, Boy Scouts of America, the Huntington Beach Boys' Club, and Pyle Boys' Camp, and in recognition thereof was awarded the "Mr. Huntington Beach Award" in 1972 from the Boy Scouts of America for scouting and community service; and WHEREAS, as a hometown businessman, Ted W. Bartlett is the longest serving member of the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce and former president thereof, has been an active member of the Asso- ciated Chamber of Commerce, and was chosen "Man of the Year" in 1973 by the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett has also served as president of the Orange County Division of the League of California Cities and has been a member of the State Board of Directors of the League; and WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett has been a member of and active in the affairs of many worthwhile organizations, including the Com- munity Chest, American Red Cross, Family Service Association, Huntington Beach Assistance League, 20th Century Club, Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Rotary Club, Toastmaster Club and Windsor Club; and WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett resides at 1718 Pine Street, Hunt- ington Beach, California with his wife Alice, who has also been active in community affairs as a member of the Orange County Grand Jury and the Women's Division of the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, from his membership in the Huntington Beach Feder- ated Women's Club and the Huntington Beach Women's Club, it appears that Ted W. Bartlett is a staunch advocate of women's rights; and WHEREAS, Ted W. Bartlett has long been a supporter of the Republican Party, having served on the California and Orange County Republican Central Committees and having particularly distinguished himself as the Orange County Republican leader Chairman of "Democrats for Dewey"; and WHEREAS, a diligent investigation has revealed that, notwith- standing the foregoing accomplishments, Ted W. Bartlett is still alive and well, RESOLUTION NO. 77-37 PAGE TWO NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby commends, honors and lauds Ted W. Bartlett for his work and concern for the quality of life in the City of Huntington Beach, County of Orange, State of California, and extends its grateful appreciation to Ted W. Bartlett and its best wishes for a future as rewarding as his illustrious past accomplishments.
