RESOLUTION NO. 77-45
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA AMENDING THE LAND USE ELEMENT OF
THE GENERAL PLAN BY REDESIGNATING 4.24 ACRES
LOCATED ON THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF GRAND
AVENUE AND TWENTY-FIRST STREET FROM PROPOSED
SCHOOL SITE TO MEDIUM-DENSITY RESIDENTIAL
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, at its February 14,
1977, regular meeting, following public hearing noticed and held
in the manner prescribed in Section 27-16 of the Santa Aha Muni-
cipal Code, has approved and recommended to this Council an amend-
ment to the General Plan of the City of Santa Aha as hereinafter
set forth; and
WHEREAS, this Council, on March 7, 1977, has held a
public hearing, duly noticed in accordance with Section 27-17 of
the Santa Ana Municipal Code, and based upon such hearing and the
evidence therein presented, does now find the said amendment, as
recommended by "the Planning Commission, to be in the public
interest"; and
WHEREAS, this Council, prior to taking this action,
has reviewed and considered the information contained in that
environmental impact report designated as "Environmental Impact
Report 76-8", and has approved said document as the final environ-
mental impact report for the General Plan amendment hereby adopted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Santa Aha as follows:
1. That the Land Use Element of the General Plan of
the City of Santa Aha is hereby amended by deleting a site con-
sisting of approximately 4.24 acres located on the northwest cor-
ner of Grand Avenue and Twenty-First Street from the Proposed
School Site designation and redesignating such site as Medium-
Density Residential, in accordance with that certain document en-
titled "Exhibit 76-8, General Plan amendment 76-8" on file with
the Clerk of the Council.
2. That the following findings are hereby made:
(a) The Santa Ana Unified School District has no in-
tention of acquiring the subject site for school purposes.
(b) Retention of the "Proposed School Site" designa-
tion would not serve the purpose of preserving land necessary for
adequate educational facilities.
(c) Redesignation of the site to a low density desig-
nation would impose an unreasonable financial restraint on the
future development of the property for residential use.
