RESOLUTION NO. 78-10
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA COMMENDING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANS-
PORTATION OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AMTRAK,
AND THE ATCHISON, TOPEKA & SANTA FE RAILWAY
COMPANY FOR THE INAUGURATION OF AN ADDITIONAL
TRAIN TO PROVIDE SERVICE BETWEEN LOS ANGELES
AND SAN DIEGO WITH A STOP IN SANTA ANA
WHEREAS, this Council is aware of the ever increas-
ing travel demands between Orange County and Los Angeles
and San Diego; and
WHEREAS, present congested conditions on the Santa
Ana Freeway mean that much of such demand cannot be effectively
met by private automobile traffic; and
WHEREAS, such demand is most serious during peak
periods.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA:
That this Council does hereby commend the Department
of Transportation of the State of California, AMTRAK, and
the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Co. for the inaugur-
ation of an additional train to provide service between Los
Angeles and San Diego with stops in Santa Aha, commencing
February 14, 1978. This Council does further wish to express
its support for such additional railway service, and urges
the citizens of the City of Santa Aha to support the same.
