Berenschot, who was assigned to follow-up the call, arrived while Senior Officer Hale was at the residence and began circling the house, unknown to Senior Officer Hale; and WHEREAS, Senior Officer Hale then entered the residence in full awareness of the potential danger to his personal safety; and WHEREAS, Senior Officer Hale thereupon confronted two armed burglars in the premises who then shot and mortally wounded him. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: 1. That this Council, together with all citizens of the City of Santa Ana, mourns and regrets the death of Senior Officer Daniel Allan Hale, an outstanding officer of the Police Department of this city, a loyal friend of his fellow officers, and a good man who loved his wife and children. 2.
