HomeMy WebLinkAbout78-042RESOLUTION NO. 78~42 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 58-281 TO ADD THE CLASS TITLE OF FACILITIES SUPERVISOR WHEREAS, on November 3, 1958, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No. 58-281, revising and re-establishing the Basic Compensation Plan for all officers and employees of the City of Santa Aha; and WHEREAS, Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of Santa Ana requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position classification and pay plan subject to Civil Service Rules and Regulations and the approval of the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council has from time to time amended said Resolution; and WHEREAS, it is now desired to add a new class to the list of class titles con- tained in said Resolution No. 58-281, as amended, and to assign salary and wage schedules, thereto: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana: 1. That Section 3 of Resolution No. 58-281, as amended, is hereby further amended by adding, in proper alphabetical sequence, the following class title at the salary range number next herein set out: CLASS TITLE SALARY RANGE NUMBER Facilities Supervisor 349 2. That this Resolution shall be operative from and after March 21, 1978. ATTEST: this 3rd day of April, 1978, by the following vote: ADOPTED, AYES: COUNCILMEN: Brandt, Bricken, Yamamoto, Garthe, Ward NOES: COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Ortiz, Evans MAYOR CLERK OF THE COUNCIL APPROVED AS TO FORM: CITY ATTORNEy C~T¥ OF SAXTA ANA FACILITIES SUPERVISOR DEFINITION Under genera/ supervision, supervises, coordinates and participates in the operation of the municipal stadium and the repair and maintenance of the stadium, municipal pools and related events facilities. O~MPLE$ OF DUTIES ~certains needs of current and prospective tenants of the municipal stadium and schedules zitable materials, equipment and manpower to prepare for events and operate the stadium during events; plans, organizes, schedules, assigns, supervises and participates in the maintenance and minor alteration and repair of the stadium structures, field turf and land- scaping, and all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and equipment; supervises and participates in the servicing of municipal pools and the maintenance and repair of pool facilities and equipment including water beaters, pumps, sumps, filters, flow meters, auto- matic water treatment devices, diving boards, slides, decking, fences, dressing and shower facilities and emergency lifesaving equipment; personally performs semi-skilled to skilled maintenance and repair work requiring the operation of a wide variety of hand and power tools and. equipment; hires part-time events workers and trains and evaluates all assigned personnel; enforces strict adherence to safe work practices and other safety regulations; orders parts, materials, supplies and equipment; assists in the preparation of tbs annual budget and controls expenditures; prepares time, activity and other records; prepares periodic and special reports; and performs other related duties as required. DISTINGUISHIN~ FEATURES OFT~E CLASS An incumbent of this class is responsible for supervising and participating in the semi- stdlled to skilled ~anual work of several crews engaged in the genera/ maintenance and ~epair of specialized recreation facilities. Responsibility for the inspection, servicing, ~aintenance and repair of s~imming pools, facilities and equipment and the supervision of the operation of the municipal stadium during the presentation of events requires an unusual combination of specialized knowledge, skill and customer relations contacts not found in other related maintenance classes. Work also involves the exercise of considerable inde- p-ndent Judgement and discretion in carrying out assignments. RECOMMENDEDI~INIMUMQUALXFICATIONS Education equivalent to graduation from high school and three years' experience in the main- tenance,' repair and operation of stadiums or arenas and/or large public-use awl--ming facili- ties, including one year experience in a lead supervisory capacity; or any equivalent com- bination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Working knowledge of standard tools, methods, practices and materials of the several trades ~uvolved in the different operations or work assi~nments described above; the requirements mr preparing a etadiem or arena for the presentation of sport or other events and its persation during events; the care, maintenance and repair of ~wt---ing pools and equipment; md the hazards and safety precautions of the work in the trades areas, kchanica/ aptitude. kill and versatility in the performance of a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks. Ability to lead and instruct subordinates, establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with tentante of stadium, follow oral and witten instructions, and estt~-te material and labor needs. 39
