HomeMy WebLinkAbout78-079KLG:ar 6/14/78 RESOLUTION NO. 78- 79 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REJECTING ANY AND ALL BIDS PRE- SENTED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PROJECT 4039, AND DETERMINING AND DECLARING THAT, IN THE OPINION OF SAID COUNCIL, BASED ON ESTIMATES SUBMITTED BY THE CITY MANAGER, THE WORK MAY BE PERFORMED BETTER AND MORE ECONOMICALLY BY THE CITY WITH ITS OWN EMPLOYEES, AND ORDER- ING SAID WORK DONE IN THE MANNER STATED. WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore, on April 17, 1978, authorized advertisement for bids for Project 4039, the construction of a storm drain on Joana Drive between Brynwood Street ~nd Eastwood Avenue; and WHEREAS, this Council determines and declares that, in its opinion based upon estimates submitted by the City Manager and prepared by the Director of Public Works, the work of constructing said project may be performed better and more economically by the City with its own employees, in that the cost thereof, as so estimated, is Seven Thousand Eighty-nine Dollars ($7,089.00); and WHEREAS, the lowest and best bid received by the City for the construction of said project is in the total sum of Ten Thousand Nine Hundred Dollars ($10,900.00). NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CIT3 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That any and all bids presented for the con- struction of said project are hereby rejected. 2. That the foregoing recitals are true and cor- rect, and this Council so finds and determines. 3. That this Council orders said work done by the 'City with its own employees, without further observance of the provisions of Section 421 of the Charter.
