RESOLUTION NO. 78-156
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA APPROVING THE FILING OF AN APPLICA-
TION FOR FUNDING UNDER THE LITTER CONTROL,
RECYCLING AND RESOURCE RECOVERY ACT FOR FUNDS
TO BE UTILIZED BY THE COUNTY OF ORANGE FOR LITTER
CLEAN UP AND LITTER LAW ENFORCEMENT
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of California
has enacted the State Litter Control, Recycling and Resource
Recovery Act of 1977 (Government Code ~S 68000, et seq.) which
provides funds to counties and cities for litter clean up and
litter law enforcements; and
WHEREAS, said Act states that in lieu of separate
proposals by a county and each city within the county f6r
utilization of litter clean up and litte= enforcement funds,
combined proposals may be developed by the county, and cities
and approved by the Board of Supervisors ~ndi~by st least 50%
of the cities representing at least 50% of the-popul~tign'
residing within the cities in the county; and
WHEREAS, combined programs for litter clean up and
litter enforcement are deemed to be in the best interests of
Orange County and the residents of the City of Santa Ana;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA:
1. That said Council approves the filing of the
attached application (Litter Control Grant -- Short Form
Application) for funding under the Litter Control, Recycling
and Resource Recovery Act and utilization by the County of
Orange of funds allocated to the City of Santa Ana for litter
clean up and litter law enforcement.
2. That this Council certifies that it understands
the general provisions of the grant agreements.
3. That this Council authorizes the City Manager,
as agent of the City of Santa Ana, to sign the Litter Control
Grant Application and transmit said application and this
resolution to the State Solid Waste Management Board.
ADOPTED this 18th day of December, 1978, by the
following vote:
