A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING
THE CITY OF TECATE, MEXICO, AS A SISTER
CITY OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA,
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
WHEREAS,
the City of Santa Ana desires to develop greater
understanding, friendship and cultural exchange
between the people of the world; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Santa Ana is rich with the heritage
of the people of Mexico, having a great number
of citizens residing in and contributing to the
progress of this City who also treasure their
Mexican heritage; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Santa Ana, for the past several years,
has developed a close association with the City of
Tecate, in the State of Baja California Norte,
Mexico; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Tecate is similar in many ways to the
City of Santa Ana by its community composition of
residences, industry and business; and
WHEREAS,
the citizens of both cities have had a relation-
ship of friendship, cooperation and humanistic
interchange for a number of years; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Santa Ana desires to continue this
close relationship with the people of Tecate so
that the people of both cities can develop greater
understanding of each other's countries and customs;
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana finds that the City of Tecate,
in the State of Baja California Norte, Mexico, is
similar to the City of Santa Ana in interests and
characteristics, and that if the people of each
community could continue to know each other, inter-
national friendship, goodwill and greater under-
standing would resul~ with benefits accruing to
each city and its citizens; and
BE IT
FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Santa Ana hereby
formally acknowledges its dedication to further
the understanding and friendship between the people
of both countries by accepting the City of Tecate
in the State of Baja California Norte, Mexico, as
an official Sister City of the City of Santa Aha,
California, U.S.A.
ADOPTED this Sth day of February, 1979, by the following vote:

la Ciudad de Santa Ana desea desarollar mis
miento, amistad, y cambios culturales entre

residiendo y contribuiendo al progreso de esta ciudad

la Ciudad de Santa Ana, por varios a~os ha desarollado
una asociaciSn con la Ciudad de Tecate, MSxico; y

COMO,
la Ciudad de Tecate, M~xico es semejante en muchas
maneras como la Ciudad de Santa Ana por la composici6n
de la comunidad en residencias, industrias, y
comercios; y

COMO,
los ciudadanos de las dos ciudades han tenido una
relaci6n de amistad, cooperaci6n, y intercambio
humanfstico por varios afios; y
TAL Y
COMO
la Ciudad de Santa Ana desea continuar esta relaci6n
con la genre de Tecate, M~xico para que la gente de
las dos ciudades puedan desarollar mas entendimiento
del pals y costumbres de cada uno;
AHORA,
POR LO TANTO, SE RESUBLVB que el concilio municipal de
la Ciudad de Santa Aha, California encuentra que la
Ciudad de Tecate, MSxico es semejante en intereses y
caracterfsticos, y que si la gente de cada comunidad
continuaran a conocerse, amistad internacional,
sinceridad, y m~s entendimiento serfa resultado con
beneficios acumulados a cada ciudad y sus ciudadanos; y
QUE SE RESUELVE MAS, que la Ciudad de Santa Ana, formalmente
reconoce su dedicaci6n para avansar el entendimiento
y amistad entre la gente de los dos paises, y as%
mismo acepta a la Ciudad de Tecate, M~xico como
la Ciudad Hermana oficial de esta Ciudad de Santa Ana,
California, E.E.U.U.
